NFL DFS Picks for Week 17: Quarterback
Cash & GPP Pick: Sam Darnold (MIN): $6,400
Unlike some previous weeks where the cash game quarterback has been unclear, Week 17 offers much more clarity. As of this writing, Vikings’ quarterback Sam Darnold is projected to be the highest owned signal caller on DraftKings, and in cash games it makes sense to follow that ownership. Darnold’s emergence with the Vikings has been one of the best stories in football, and he’s been phenomenal in leading Minnesota to a 13-2 record. Darnold enters Week 17 averaging 19.8 DraftKings points per game and faces a Packers defense he torched for 275 yards and three touchdowns in Week 4. Darnold looks just as good in GPP’s as he does in cash games.
Despite projecting to be the highest owned quarterback on the board, Darnold is also the most leveraged quarterback in Stokastic’s Sims. While Darnold is currently projecting to be in 18% of lineups on DraftKings, Stokastic’s Sims are much higher than that on the soon-to-be-free-agent quarterback. Considering Darnold is currently showing up in a whopping 27.7% of the top 300 lineups sorted by ROI, he offers super strong leverage.
Other NFL DFS GPP quarterback picks: Bryce Young, Aidan O’Connell, Mason Rudolph
NFL DFS Week 17 Picks: Running Back
Cash & GPP Pick: Bucky Irving (TB): $6,700
It’s Bucky Irving’s world, and the rest of us are merely lucky enough to be graced by his presence. All kidding aside, Irving has taken Tampa Bay’s starting running back job from Rachaad White, and he’s emerged as one of the top players in the DFS landscape. Matched up with a Carolina defense that regularly gets exposed by opposing running backs, Irving couldn’t ask to be in a better spot in Week 17, and he’s the top overall player on DraftKings in both cash games and GPP’s.
Considering Irving is projected to be the highest owned player on DraftKings at 41.2%, he’s the first player to lock into cash game lineups. However, that 41.2% number still isn’t as high as it should be in tournaments, as the rookie from Oregon is currently showing up as the most positively leveraged player at any position in Stokastic’s Sims. While these numbers might change slightly as lock approaches, Irving is currently showing up in 64.7% of the top 300 lineups and there’s clearly a strong case to locking him in everywhere.
Other NFL DFS Cash Game & GPP running back picks: Saquon Barkley, Jonathan Taylor, De’Von Achane, Breece Hall, Aaron Jones Sr., Raheem Blackshear
NFL DFS Picks for Week 17: Wide Receiver
Cash Game Options:
Justin Jefferson, Mike Evans, Brian Thomas Jr., Malik Nabers, Jakobi Meyers, Adam Thielen, Calvin Ridley
GPP Pick: KaVontae Turpin (DAL): $3,400
Although there is no shortage of viable expensive wide receivers to choose from, $3,400 KaVontae Turpin has emerged as the most leveraged wideout on DraftKings. Usually, Turpin has only found himself in play on Showdown slates, but all of Dallas’ secondary playmakers suddenly look a lot better with CeeDee Lamb getting shut down for the season. While Turpin’s floor is low, and I wouldn’t recommend playing him in cash games, his ceiling at $3,400 is much higher than the majority of the other players in his price range.
As of this writing, Turpin is only projected to be 7.1% owned on DraftKings. In a tough spot against Philadelphia, with Cooper Rush throwing him the rock, it’s not all that surprising that the field isn’t overly excited about getting to Turpin. However, Stokastic’s Sims are much higher on Turpin than the field, as he’s currently showing up in 27.7% of the top 300 lineups.
Other NFL DFS GPP wide receiver picks: Jordan Addison, Chris Olave, Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs, Keon Coleman, Ryan Miller

NFL DFS Week 17 Picks: Tight End
Cash & GPP Pick: Brock Bowers (LV): $6,300
Brock Bowers is the priciest tight end on DraftKings at $6,300, but that price remains a bargain given his production with Aidan O’Connell under center for the Raiders. After a couple of quiet weeks with Desmond Ridder at quarterback, Bowers rebounded in Week 16 with a massive performance, catching 11 passes on 13 targets for 99 yards. Nearly breaking the slate last week, Bowers now faces a struggling Saints team, making him a top play in all formats for Sunday.
As of this writing, Bowers projected to be the second-highest owned tight end on the board, trailing only Minnesota’s T.J. Hockenson. Though Hockenson is a strong play in his own right, he doesn’t possess nearly the upside that Bowers does, and it shouldn’t be that hard to find the extra salary to get up to Bowers on DraftKings. Bowers is currently showing up in 29.3% of the top 300 lineups in Stokastic’s Sims. And, truth be told, I wouldn’t mind if that number were even higher by the time lock approaches.
Other NFL DFS Cash Game & GPP tight end picks: T.J. Hockenson, Chig Okonkwo, Payne Durham
