NFL DFS TNF Contrarian Captain: Broncos DST
Stokastic’s Captain Optimal Percentage
DraftKings: 2.7%
DFS Salary
DraftKings: $4,800
Tonight’s Showdown doesn’t feature many desirable primetime players. Denver was already a team lacking in weapons, and with both Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheen joining Derek Carr on the Saints sideline, New Orleans all of a sudden looks unfamiliar. Though newly minted Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler acclimated himself well in his first pro start last week, Denver has one of the best defenses in football, and the Broncos DST is falling through the cracks on DraftKings.
As of this writing, the field is only projected to roster Denver’s DST as a Captain in 2.2% of lineups. Considering it is projected to be optimal as a Captain 2.7% of the time this slate plays out and he is a Captain in 3.3% of top-300 ROI lineups in Stokastic’s NFL DFS Sims, Denver’s DST is a great leverage option.

NFL DFS TNF Contrarian Flex Pick: Jaleel McLaughlin
Stokastic’s Flex Optimal Percentage
DraftKings: 23.3%
Ownership Projection
DraftKings: 15.1%
Much like on the last few Thursday night slates, value plays and contrarian plays are both hard to come by tonight, so finding a player that is both cheap and lower owned is extra appealing. Broncos running back Jaleel McLaughlin fits both of those bills, as the field is sleeping on him at his $5,800 price tag on DraftKings.
McLaughlin is averaging an unspectacular 6.2 DraftKings points per game. But with incumbent starter Javonte Williams averaging only 8.9 per game on almost double the touches, it’s fair to presume that McLaughlin might have more of a role in the Broncos backfield as the season continues.
Either way, both Stokastic’s NFL Showdown Plays Tool and Sims are extremely high on McLaughlin as a leverage play. As of this writing, McLaughlin is projected to be optimal as a Flex play 23.3% of the time this slate plays out on DraftKings. However, only 15.1% of lineups are currently projected to roster him. He also has 35% exposure rate in the top 300 lineups by ROI in the Sims, and his cheap-ish price tag also does a lot in terms of roster construction.
