NFL DFS TNF Contrarian Captain: Matthew Wright
Stokastic’s Captain Optimal Percentage
DraftKings: 3.1%
DFS Salary
DraftKings: $6,900
On the heels of one of the best Thursday night NFL game in some time, the 49ers and Seahawks kick off Week 6 in a key NFL West battle. There are plenty of skill position players to like from both sides of this game, as its 49-point total is the third highest of any game this week. With Seattle a 3.5-point home underdog, points should be aplenty from both sides tonight. A lot of ownership is going to the quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers alike, so kickers are once again expected to be under owned. While Seattle’s Jason Myers looks good in his own right, newly minted 49ers kicker Matthew Wright is the top contrarian Captain on the slate.
Taking over for the injured Jake Moody, Wright is in an enviable spot as the kicker in a Kyle Shanahan offense. San Francisco rarely has trouble moving the ball downfield, and Wright could be in line for multiple field goal attempts tonight. While there’s certainly some opportunity cost in rostering a kicker on a slate with so many good offensive players, Wright is popping in Stokastic’s NFL DFS Sims. As of this writing, the field is only projected to roster Wright as a Captain in 0.3% of lineups. Considering he’s projected to be optimal as a Captain 3.1% of the time this slate plays out and Stokastic’s Sims are locking him in at Captain at a 4.0% rate, Wright is a great leverage option.

NFL DFS TNF Contrarian Flex Pick: Noah Fant
Stokastic’s Flex Optimal Percentage
DraftKings: 16.4%
Ownership Projection
DraftKings: 15.3%
Much like on last week’s Buccaneers-Falcons slate, value plays and contrarian plays are both hard to come by tonight, so finding a player that is both cheap and contrarian is extra appealing. Seattle tight end Noah Fant fits both of those bills, as the field is sleeping on him despite a cheap $3,000 price tag on DraftKings. Fant is averaging 5.5 DraftKings points per game, which isn’t amazing, but he looks like one of the best cost-saving differentiators on the board.
As of this writing, Fant is projected to be optimal as a Flex play 16.4% of the time this slate plays out on DraftKings. However, only 15.3% of lineups are currently projected to roster him. Stokastic’s Sim Tools also seem to like Fant a lot, as he’s coming in at a 16.3% exposure rate in my top 300 lineups. His cheap price tag also does a lot in terms of roster construction.
