Preseason Week 2 NFL DFS Picks: Sunday News & Notes
Starter News
The Packers starters are not expected to play, while the Saints starters should see significant playing time, possibly extending into the second quarter. The 49ers starters will be on the field for one or two possessions, and the Broncos are also likely to play their starters, though their time on the field will probably be limited to one or two possessions as well.
Packers
Sean Clifford is expected to get the most playing time, with Jordan Love not projected to play. There is only one other quarterback on the roster. The starting running backs will not be playing, and MarShawn Lloyd is out. Emanuel Wilson, who had 13 carries in the last game, is the top option and is likely to be highly owned. The running back room is thin, making Ellis Merriweather and Jarveon Howard potential contrarian options. Grant DuBose and Bo Melton are tied for the second-highest receiving yardage prop on the slate, making them popular wide receiver choices. Samori Toure could be a good pivot option. The tight end spot is challenging with four players active.
Broncos
Bo Nix is going to start, with a fairly even split anticipated between Nix, Zach Wilson and Jarrett Stidham. The prop market projects them evenly. Jaleel McLaughlin and Audric Estime should see the most playing time at running back, while Blake Watson (who had nine carries in the last game) could be a strong pivot option. The playing time among receivers and tight ends will be quite spread out, making it difficult to consider any of these players as core options. Instead, they are more likely to be fliers, with up to 11 players potentially dressing for the game.
Saints
Derek Carr is expected to get a decent amount of playing time and is likely the top option. After him, we might see three other quarterbacks in mop-up duty, making it challenging to choose them. However, Spencer Rattler has a decent yardage prop and is a solid contrarian option. Jordan Mims is the running back top choice and will be popular, while Jamaal Williams offers a nice contrarian option, particularly if he handles the goal line work. For wide receivers and tight ends, there are several injuries among some fringe players, which could lead to a thin position group. Samson Nacua stands out as the top option, and considering the starters are expected to play into the second quarter, they could also be viable picks.
49ers
Brock Purdy will play for a series or two, with Brandon Allen being the top option for the position. Jordan Mason stands out as the top running back choice and is a solid play on the slate. Cody Schrader, who had six touches in the last game, offers a good contrarian play. Cameron Latu has the highest yardage prop for tight ends on the slate and is likely to be the most owned at his position. Davontavean Martin, Ronnie Bell and Trent Taylor are all viable options at wide receiver.
