Top Week 2 DraftKings NFL DFS Stack: Detroit Lions
Last week’s top DraftKings stack was not hard to decipher based on Stokastic’s Sims. Anthony Richardson simulated with the best ROI at all stack sizes. Did it pay off? … To a degree; he certainly wasn’t a bust, at least.
This week is a different story. Depending on how you want to pair pass catchers with your quarterback, three different teams could serve as the lead stack of the Week 2 main slate. Here is a snapshot of some of the top options, sorted by pairing the quarterback with two pass catchers.
Daniel Jones is the No. 1 option for one pass catcher, Baker Mayfield for quarterback plus two and Matthew Stafford for plus three. None of those guys offer positive returns across the board, though.
As an individual quarterback, Jones has the highest overall ROI, while Mayfield is third and Jared Goff fourth. However, Goff is appearing in top-300 lineups (in terms of ROI) more often than both of them, and he also has better stacking pieces according to the Sims right now — so we’re going with the Lions on DraftKings this week.
Only Jayden Daniels appears in more top-300 lineups (14.3% to Goff’s 13.0%), and though Goff’s ROI individually is behind Mayfield’s at all three stacking levels, building +ROI stacks is much easier with the former. Amon-Ra St. Brown is the third-most-often-appearing wide receiver in top-300 lineups, and Kalif Raymond is looking like one of the elite value plays at any position this week — he ranks second among all players in simulated ROI for Week 2.
Stacking with those two is the obvious route as the most exposed/highest-ROI Lions. However, Jahmyr Gibbs and Sam LaPorta, though they are simulating with negative ROI, both appear in a decent number of top-300 lineups: 8.7% for Gibbs and 4.7% for LaPorta.
And not to bury the lede, but Goff also offers more leverage than any other Week 2 quarterback, getting rostered only 6% of the time according to our NFL DFS ownership projections.
Top Week 2 FanDuel NFL DFS Stack: Los Angeles Rams
The best stack on FanDuel is tricky to identify when looking at the quarterbacks. For reference, here are the top 5 quarterback ROIs sorted by three pass catchers:
Kyler Murray is the only quarterback who is returning positively across all stack sizes; the problem is, who the ever-loving eff do we pair him with?
Two Cardinals are appearing in a ton of top-300 lineups: James Conner and Trey McBride. Conner isn’t really upping Murray’s production much as a stacking partner, so really we’re only looking at McBride; every other Cardinal pass catcher appears in fewer than 1% of top-300 lineups. Murray and McBride make a solid plus-one combo, but they’re not the top overall stack on FanDuel for Week 2.
Instead, we’re going with a quarterback who on the whole is returning negative ROI; with two or three pass catchers, however, he is positive, and his receivers are some of the best values out there.
Matthew Stafford is the No. 3 quarterback when paired with three receivers, and the Sims are giving him three guys who appear in at least 10% of top-300 lineups. Cooper Kupp leads the pack coming off a strong Week 1 game, appearing in over 37% of top-300 lineups in the Sims — the most exposure of any receiver on the Week 2 main slate. Then Demarcus Robinson and tight end Colby Parkinson are also coming in with positive ROI, with both ranking third among all wide receivers and tight ends, respectively.
For some alternative stacking pieces, Kyren Williams appears in almost 8% of top-300 lineups, and Tyler Johnson, while only getting 4.3% exposure, is one of the highest-ROI players on the slate (29.9%).
Again, this is a greater testament to stacking pieces than to Stafford; he is positively leveraged, but only by 0.6%. So basically, do not play Stafford unless you are pairing him with at least two pass catchers, ideally three.
