Today’s Top NBA DFS Game Environments: Pacers-Thunder Top Targets & More (March 12)

Opportunity is the name of the game when it comes to playing Daily Fantasy Sports. Whether it’s scoring, rebounding, or assisting, an NBA player needs an abundance of opportunity to rack up the most fantasy points.

When gauging a player’s chance at opportunity, the first place to look is the game total. Typically, the games with a total of 230 or higher are prime target spots as those happen to be the games with the efficient offense combined with mediocre defense.

In this article, I will be breaking down two spots that meet this criteria and should be popular game environments amongst the field.

Today’s Top NBA DFS Game Environments (March 12)

Indiana Pacers at Oklahoma City Thunder

Total: 240

The Pacers are known for pushing the pace, as they play at the second-fastest pace in the league, only trailing the Washington Wizards. What gets swept under the rug is their lack of defense. The Pacers rank sixth worst in defensive efficiency rating. They are allowing an average of 122 points per game on the road this season as they head into a matchup against the second-best offense in the league, the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Just like the Pacers, Oklahoma City loves to run, ranking eighth in pace. MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has an incredible usage rate of 33% and will be a great spend-up option tonight at $10,500. Another player to keep an eye from the Thunder side is PG/SG Josh Giddey for $5,600. Giddey is projected for 1.17 fantasy points per minute in 25 minutes of action. He’s been playing great recently averaging 31.85 DraftKings points over his last five games and has the ability to reach the 30-minute mark barring a blowout. Giddey could be worth an ROI boost in the Sims.

On the Pacers side, PG Tyrese Haliburton is $9,000 and has been in a funk coming out of the All-Star Break. He is projected for around 45 DraftKings points tonight, which isn’t terrible for his price tag. He could hold value as a low-owned pivot with his ownership projected to be 4%.

Milwaukee Bucks at Sacramento Kings

Total: 235.5

Earlier in January, these teams met and combined for a total of 285 points in an overtime thriller resulting in a Bucks win, 143-142. Subtracting the points from overtime, these teams still combined for a total 256 points. Both teams rank in the top 10 for pace while their offenses hold top-13 offensive efficiency ratings.

Giannis Antetokounmpo stands out in this game (as he does in most matchups) priced at $11,500 and projected for 59 DraftKings points. I would love to be over the field on his 6% ownership. Malik Beasley at $4,400 is a cheap guy in this matchup that can be a solid piece to some GPP lineups. He’s hovering around the 30-minute mark on average, but in his last three games, he has played 39, 34, 32. The opportunity for minutes will be there, it’s just dependent on his shooting performance.

Switching to the Kings side, Domantas Sabonis has been on a tear in his last five games, averaging 62 DraftKings points and adding one triple double to the mix. His price at $10,400 makes him a top priority tonight in one of the fastest game environments on the slate tonight.
