Joe Ryan M/L Than 4.5 Hits Allowed
This is a solid pitching matchup as the Rays are in Minnesota. Tampa sends Taj Bradley with a spectacular strikeout rate, while the Twins counter with one of their top arms in Joe Ryan. After a rough start to the year in giving up hits, at least more than the above total, Ryan has settled in over the past seven starts. He’s living on the lower side of this projection more often than not, so it’s just about finding the best matchup for him. Remember, this is just hits allowed, so I’m not interested in strikeouts or much else other than avoiding bad contact.
It’s still relevant; Ryan’s 26.9% strikeouts to 4.2% walks are highly impressive. It’s part of the chemical makeup of how we stay below this projection, but Ryan doesn’t have to strike out nine batters for the less than play to clear. Ryan now faces a fleeting Tampa offense at the plate, one that’s struggled mightily with a horrible -72 run differential. That’s fourth worst in the AL and easy pickings for Ryan. The Rays have some strikeouts in that lineup, but they will struggle to hit, leaving us with less than 4.5 hits allowed for Ryan.

Francisco Lindor M/L Than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI
With this total sitting at 8.5 and runs flowing last night, we like Francisco Lindor to take advantage once again. Lindor has helped power the now seven-game win streak for the Mets after their comeback win last night, despite going 0-for-4 at the plate. We get a good spot here for the leadoff hitter on a red-hot batting team. With his ability to hit alone, Lindor becomes live to cross this projection tonight against Andrew Heaney; add that he’s able to put together multi-hit games and he may not need anything else.
Once on the basepath, Lindor is always a threat to score. He’s been helped around by quality at-bats below him in the lineup and should take full advantage tonight against a mediocre Heaney. We’ve also seen Lindor jump on pitches with runners in scoring position, usually coming at the bottom end of the Mets lineup, but Lindor has brought them home. Even last night, he finished with an RBI and now has five over his last three games.
