Anthony Edwards M/L Than 5.5 Assists
The Timberwolves were able to withstand a rough outing from their top players and still blew out the Suns. There’s a better-than-not chance Anthony Edwards will put scoring ahead of anything else, looking to bounce back from a 15-point night. The Timberwolves have a chance to put their foot on the Suns and force the inevitable end to Kevin Durant’s run. Edwards narrowly eclipsed this mark in Game 1, when he was a volume machine.
When he struggled from the floor, he innovated and created some opportunities elsewhere. Edwards will be a scorer tonight, primarily because it’s hard to minimize him in a series, especially with Phoenix playing so desperate down 0-2. The Timberwolves will struggle to adjust, at least some of their role players will. We’ve seen this happen a lot in the first round, as it can swing a game with road teams getting less from role players in general.
The implied odds at Sleeper are -115, a decent edge compared to the -121 true odds. That’s a 2.3% EV edge to start our entry.
Sleeper Prediction: Anthony Edwards LESS Than 5.5 Assists
Bradley Beal M/L Than 5.5 Assists
Bradley Beal is living out the above reality over the past two games where he’s struggling to score but clearing this assist number. Some of it comes with struggling in general on the road in a tough environment in Minnesota. His team was blown out in two straight games, and he played a ton of minutes in each. There were two regular season games where Beal was held below this number, and Phoenix once again needs Beal to step up as a a scorer.
One of those games saw Beal drop 33 points, and with the help of a few guys around the Big 3 in Phoenix, the Suns should see Beal benefit from a setup as opposed to creating for someone else. Minnesota will always have eyes on Durant, and Beal may need to pick up some slack from a struggling Devin Booker.
The implied odds are -137, beating the -151 market price. This is a solid 4% edge worth exploiting, making our three-pick entry complete!
