With the US Open rapidly approaching, it’s almost time for another major in the PGA Tour season. But there will be plenty of time to break that down; this week we have an elevated event to enjoy. Around 70 of the tour’s best are playing the Memorial at Muirfield Village, a Jack Nicklaus venue that hosts this tournament each year and offers a fair but challenging test of golf. The field is limited, making PGA DFS value and salary savers that much more difficult. There won’t be as many choices as we get to the lower ranges, but there are still some names that stand out. Let’s get into my value PGA DFS picks for the 2024 Memorial.

PGA DFS: Memorial Tournament Preview
Muirfield Village is one of the better-known courses on tour, and most of the field should be familiar with the challenge ahead. This par-72 course measures just over 7,500 yards and is defined by its firm and fast conditions, offering a test for all types of players. While being an elite bentgrass putter can be advantageous, every club in the bag will be tested here. Step 1 to success is scoring on the par 5’s, something past winners have done exceptionally well.
The key to mastering the rest of the course lies in avoiding major mistakes and having precise iron play. I’ll be focusing on total driving, par-5 scoring and some scrambling ability — essentially, I’m looking for a well-rounded golfer this week.

Rickie Fowler
DFS Salary
DraftKings: $7,000
FanDuel: $8,100
I have a long-standing love/hate relationship with Fowler, and it’s mostly due to his erratic play. He shows flashes of brilliance, but it’s peppered with massive mistakes that cost him dearly in tournaments. That said, he comes in off five straight made cuts, including the Masters, and he struck it well at the Charles Schwab.
Fowler has played this course a million times, was ninth last year and still has scoring ability if he can just avoid the blow-up holes. The field is short, making the cut line easy to get through, and if he can do that, the scoring should allow him to move up the raw points board in DFS. With the right conditions and a few timely scrambles, Fowler can build on some of the momentum of late and provide some quality returns for DFS lineups this week.

Adam Svensson
DFS Salary
DraftKings: $6,600
FanDuel: $7,600
I’ve been playing Svensson constantly in DFS, as his price continues to be towards the bottom of the pricing range. That is not completely unwarranted, but at the same time, eight straight made cuts for this type of tag is unusual. The killer has been a lack of upside, with almost all those finishes hovering around top-50s. However, it’s been a putting problem, which we all know can change in a hurry. I like the way Svensson is striking the ball, and it feels like his putter can only improve at this point.
Svensson gained strokes tee to green in seven of the last tournaments, which is the reason he made all these cuts. On the flip side, he has negative strokes gained putting in six of those eight events, so it’s a pretty clear picture. At $6,600, Svensson is worth backing as a guy who is striking it well on a course that is demanding.
Davis Thompson
DFS Salary
DraftKings: $6,400
FanDuel: $7,900
The limited field doesn’t allow us a ton of wiggle room as we get towards the bottom of the pricing ranges. Thompson sits at $6,400, and he comes off a missed cut last week in Canada, but before that his game was in good shape. A few weeks back he nearly won with a runner-up finish in Myrtle Beach. Now, that field did not resemble this one, but that type of week proves his game still has some upside.
Thompson’s off-tee game should be an asset, which matches nicely with Muirfield Village. As is the case with a lot of guys, his putter is struggling, but that is something we have to live with in these price ranges. Last year he finished 56th at The Memorial, but his off-tee and putter both were bleeding strokes. If he can lean on the driver as he has been, I will call for him to improve off the 2023 effort and grab some placement points for us this week.
