PGA DFS Picks: Top Values for the Wells Fargo Championship (2024)
PGA DFS: Wells Fargo Championship Tournament Preview
Quail Hollow is a challenging layout, spanning over 7,500 yards on a par-71 setup. Strong driving skills are important here, and while precision matters as well, a powerful drive is the recipe for success. Beating this field and excelling on this course demands a complete game, similar to majors.
This week’s non-cut format brings the top players in the world, spearheaded by Rory McIlroy, who is 6-1 on the odds board. Other familiar names join McIlroy near the top, with one notable omission: Scottie Scheffler. His absence alters the tournament’s dynamics and pricing structure, leaving room for speculation on lineup strategies. Whether opting for balanced or star-studded lineups, value picks are essential. Here are a few names worth considering for this week’s lineup construction.

PGA DFS Picks: Top Values
Chris Kirk
DFS Salary
DraftKings: $7,100
FanDuel: $9,000
Let’s get things started in the lower-$7,000 range on DraftKings with Chris Kirk, who quietly is playing fantastic golf and is coming off another quality showing at the RBC Heritage. He began 2024 with a win at the Sentry and has only one missed cut.
The consistency gets a little bump down given the no-cut, but Kirk can easily get in the mix against a field of any caliber. He finished a more-than-respectable 16th at the Masters, and that came against many of the same names he’ll see here.
The more complex piece of this puzzle is Kirk’s lack of success overall at Quail Hollow. From putting woes to just not striking it well, it’s been a lackluster profile at this event for Kirk over the years. However, more important than course history is course fit, and his game works for what Quail Hollow demands. What clinches it is Kirk’s massive improvement off the tee, which is the catalyst for scoring at this type of layout. Kirk has gained strokes off the tee in every event for which we have strokes gained data in 2024, and that is going to translate here. With a ton of builds needing someone in this range, Kirk fits a lot of lineups.
Rickie Fowler
DFS Salary
DraftKings: $6,900
FanDuel: $8,700
This is dangerous and could end poorly, but sub-$7,000 Rickie Fowler at Quail Hollow is worth a look. This is an event that Fowler has loved for over a decade, with his numerous top finishes including a win all the way back in 2012.
Now, looking at data from long ago isn’t overly useful, but what is clear is that Fowler is familiar with the layout and has what he needs to be successful around this track. Fast-forward to 2024, and Fowler has played average golf, with some signs of his game is trending upward.
There are some major positives with his approach numbers recently, and that’s always a recipe for success. However, it’s not all positive, with Fowler’s off-tee numbers lacking. The non-cut helps a scorer like Fowler, but he needs to avoid those blowups with the driver if he is to reach his max this week. Still, this is a great tournament option, and coming to a course with so much experience puts Fowler in play.
Kevin Tway
DFS Salary
DraftKings: $6,200
FanDuel: $7,100
This is the lower-$6,000 range, which means this is a salary saver in this field. However, it’s not all bad with Kevin Tway, and lately he has been fantastic with two straight top-10 finishes. It’s fair to say Tway lost his form on tour for a while, but this recent success could make him undervalued as the pricing fails to catch up.
Adding to the intrigue is that Tway always had abilities off the tee, and that’s the key stat for dealing with Quail Hollow. If he can drive the ball and keep his putter, hot this is the type of pay-down option we want. Not only is his form proving he can put up a solid showing, he also is the type of player that gets a boost in a non-cut thanks to his abilities to score. If I need a guy in the true lower end, I won’t hesitate to click Tway’s name this week.
