PGA DFS Picks: Top Values for the BMW Championship (2024)

For the first time since 2006, the PGA Tour returns to Castle Rock, Colorado, as the BMW Championship tees off at Castle Pines, a par-72 course that stretches to over 8,000 yards. The course resides at an altitude of over 6,000 feet and features 400 feet of elevation change, so this Jack Nicklaus design plays much shorter than it appears on the scorecard. The thinner air increases the distance shots travel by roughly 10%. With these factors, the course will play closer to 7,500 yards. Let’s dive into the best PGA DFS picks, especially the value picks, for the BMW Championship.

PGA DFS Picks: Top Values for the BMW Championship (2024)

PGA DFS: BMW Championship Tournament Preview

Currently, there are 50 players in the field and only 30 will advance to the Tour Championship at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, GA, for a shot at the FedEx Cup Trophy.

Castle Pines should continue to benefit players who excel at total driving, mid-iron approach play and putting around bentgrass greens.

The betting markets reveal that Scottie Scheffler (+300) is the favorite for this event, with Xander Schauffle (+550) the next-best golfer and the only other entrant with odds shorter than +1000.

It's time to continue our PGA DFS picks series, showcasing our BMW Championship top value plays like Eric Cole...

PGA DFS Picks: Top Values

Davis Thompson

DFS Salary
DraftKings: $7,900
FanDuel: $9,
000

Since missing the cut at the RBC Canadian Open, Davis Thompson has been on an impressive run. He secured a first-place finish at the John Deere Classic, a second-place finish the week before at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, and a top-10 finish at the U.S. Open. More recently, he finished T12 at the Wyndham Championship and T33 last week at TPC Southwind.

In his last 20 rounds, he ranks eighth in strokes gained off the tee, 11th in strokes gained putting, 15th in driving accuracy and 20th in driving distance. According to our PGA DFS Top Golfers Tool, the 25-year-old has the potential for a lot of upside this week. Despite the higher price tag at FanDuel, our tool gives him a 6.5% leverage (third), and our simulation has him appearing in the optimal lineup 18.8% of the time (fourth).

If Thompson can adjust to the altitude, this course should suit his style of play well. He has shown a lot of consistency over his last eight tournaments, and if he maintains that form this week, he’ll be a strong value play in our lineups.

PGA DFS Picks: Top Values

Christiaan Bezuidenhout

DFS Salary
DraftKings: $8,000
FanDuel: $8,800

Christian Bezuidenhout struggled overseas, missing the cut at The Open and withdrawing from the Genesis Scottish Open. However, he did finish 16th at the Olympics while representing South Africa. Since returning to the States, he’s posted back-to-back T22 finishes at the Wyndham Championship and the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

This season he ranks top 10 in strokes gained putting, strokes gained around the green and 16th in driving accuracy.

Out Stokastic DFS tools have Bezuidenhout appearing in the optimal lineup 15% of the time, with a leverage of 4.8%. His ownership is hovering around 10% at both DraftKings and FanDuel. If he continues to drive accurately and control his shots efficiently near the green, Bezuidenhout can pave his way toward the top of the leaderboard at the BMW Championship.

PGA DFS Picks: Top Values

Eric Cole

DFS Salary
DraftKings: $6,500
FanDuel: $
7,500

Eric Cole finished strong last weekend at TPC Southwind, shooting -7 on Sunday to secure a T18 finish. What stood out was his +0.68 strokes gained around the green at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Before that, we’ve seen him with three top-10 finishes in his last six outings.

Over his last 20 rounds, Cole ranks 3rd in strokes gained around the green, 8th in strokes gained putting, and 18th in strokes gained approach. As long as he can effectively control his driver, the rest of his game should direct him toward the top of the leaderboard.

He comes in at a very affordable price at both DraftKings and FanDuel, and our Stokastic simulations rate him with an 11.3% chance of appearing in the optimal lineup and a 3.8% leverage mark. His ownership is also very low, around 7.4% at FanDuel, making him a strong consideration when crafting your DFS lineups for this week.
