PGA DFS Picks: Top Values for the Charles Schwab Challenge (2024)

The PGA Tour continues this week with the Charles Schwab Challenge, and though it’s not a major, there’s plenty of high-end talent in this 136-man field. The salary tiers for PGA DFS this week again spread from Scottie Scheffler in the $13,000s all the way down to the salary savers in the $5,000s and below. As such, there are some interesting opportunities for lineup construction this week. Let’s get into my value PGA DFS picks for the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge.

PGA DFS: Charles Schwab Challenge Tournament Preview

Colonial Country Club is a par 70 sitting around 7,200 yards, but it has a more technical layout that requires a lot of precision on certain holes. Wind is always a factor, and with the right conditions, this will play harder than what the players saw last week at the PGA Championship.

With distance not being a huge factor this week, we look towards the irons. Colonial thrives on guys being able to dial it in and give themselves plenty of looks around these bentgrass greens.

PGA DFS Picks: Top Values

Cam Davis

DFS Salary
DraftKings: $7,300
FanDuel: $8,900

We will start with a boom/bust option, but one who currently grades out favorably in Stokastic’s PGA leverage scores. Cam Davis is a scoring machine who has blowup risk, but he also has the game to compete anywhere on tour. He missed the cut last week at the PGA Championship; however, before that he made four straight, including a 12th at the Masters. His ball striking and overall game are a little erratic, and that’s what we get with a player of this type.

Davis is in the lower-$7,000 range, which really doesn’t matter much given his gigantic range of outcomes. If he can find the weekend, he is live to outscore his placement and is an easy attachment to a lot of different lineups. He’s had some reps at Colonial in past years, and if his ownership comes in at just a few percentage points, he’s a great flier for tournaments.

The PGA Lineup Generator is one of our easiest-to-use but also most effective tools we offer. All you need to do is select the DFS site and slate you plan to play, choose the level of ownership you want from your lineups (chalky, contrarian, balanced or all) and players you wish to lock in. Once you’re satisfied, Lineup Generator will churn out high-ROI lineups and give you the information to determine how you want to proceed.

C.T. Pan

DFS Salary
DraftKings: $6,500
FanDuel: $8,000

C.T. Pan is another player who missed the cut last week at the PGA Championship, but that is not a big data point. Before that, Pan made five straight cuts, including a third-place finish in Mexico a few months ago. His game relies on crisp iron play, which is exactly what he needs around a technical layout like Colonial. Pan’s putter is a wild card, and that is something we have to live with week to week.

Besides his game being in good shape, this is a great course fit for a guy who isn’t a bomber off the tee. Pan has made four of his last five cuts at the Charles Schwab, including a third-place finish in 2019. Add in the more-than-reasonable price tag at $6,500, and Pan is a pay-down option that allows you to spend up elsewhere. Just hope that he brings a little putting regression to the table to pair with his reliable ball striking.

Ben Martin

DFS Salary
DraftKings: $5,900
FanDuel: $7,800

You don’t necessarily need to dive into the $5,000 range on DraftKings this week, but if you do, there are a handful of playable options. The guy at the top of the list is Ben Martin at $5,900, and he does a lot of what this track requires. Similar to Pan, Martin relies on his irons to get the job done, only with a little more reliable putting. Now, it’s not all perfect, with a missed cut last week at Myrtle Beach, but overall, Martin does a lot of things we want for a player this cheap.

It’s not surprising that ownership will be limited on Martin and basically anyone from this salary range. The benefit of playing Martin isn’t just some of the upside he brings, but the combinations of top-end golfers you might be able to fit within a team. Getting to Scheffler and another expensive guy is going to be nearly impossible unless you find some cheap values, and Martin is exactly that at this price point.
