The major season wrapped up last week with the Open Championship. Xander Schauffele capped an incredible 2024 season by winning his second major of the year — and of his career. But there’s still more golf to be played. Next the PGA Tour returns to the U.S., heading to Minneapolis for the 3M Open. While this event doesn’t have the same prestige as the Open, it offers plenty of opportunities for players and bettors alike. The 3M Open presents a different kind of challenge, with a high potential for a first-time winner and a field filled with players eager to make their mark. Let’s explore the best PGA DFS value picks for the 2024 3M Open.

PGA DFS Picks: Top Values for the 3M Open (2024)

PGA DFS: 3M Open Tournament Preview

TPC Twin Cities is the venue, and it is a diverse and challenging course. Water hazards abound, adding an element of risk and variance. However, for those who avoid the water, birdie opportunities are plentiful, making the course a true test of risk and reward on many holes.

The layout itself is not overly difficult, resembling pre-Open events where scores around -20 could win. Driving distance and accuracy are crucial here, encouraging players to be aggressive off the tee. If they can steer clear of the rough and water, they’ll be well positioned to be in contention on Sunday.

PGA DFS Picks: Top Values

Adam Svensson

DFS Salary
DraftKings: $7,400
FanDuel: $9,
000

Technically he’s more of a mid-range play than a true salary saver, but Adam Svensson opens up the rest of your lineups. I’ve bought Svensson all year, and despite some frustrating showings, he’s consistently made cuts. The biggest problem has been the finishing positions, with a ton of 50th-ish-place finishes that hurt his upside. However, a 16th at Travelers and 34th at the John Deere Classic despite losing strokes putting have Svensson once again a worthwhile target.

Those putting struggles are almost solely the reason for Svensson’s lack of upside in 2024. His ball striking has been on point, and one could argue Svensson is one of the better tee-to-green players in this entire field. He’s made three appearances at the 3M in his career, with two made cuts and a 15th in 2019. Somehow he lost 5.1 strokes putting that week, which once again shows how good his ball striking can be. I’ll continue to buy Svensson since he fits a ton of different lineup constructions this week.

Ben Silverman

DFS Salary
DraftKings: $7,200
FanDuel: $8,900

It’s no surprise that the bottom range of this field is littered with players who aren’t used to being in contention on the PGA Tour. However, the talent is there, and Ben Silverman showed that last week. He fired a 62 in Round 1 of the Barracuda, and despite not being able to stay in contention, he’s been rounding into form late in the year. Silverman is consistently making cuts, and he once again is poised to get four rounds, which is step 1 to making value.

Silverman has been a consistent putter who is starting to show some promise with the irons. Obviously, to compete here he needs everything working at the same time, and Silverman is close to finding that. He’s not expected to be popular, and if he keeps this putter hot and the irons respectable, Silverman will be an asset at this price point.

Carson Young

DFS Salary
DraftKings: $6,900
FanDuel: $8,400

If you need to dip even lower, we still have plenty of options, but obviously the risk continues to climb. Carson Young kicks off the $6,000 range on DraftKings, and there is upside, but his missed cut equity is high. He has missed six cuts in the last 10 tournament but also has a fifth- and 14th-place finish. That’s a massive range of outcomes and illustrates how much boom/bust Young is. At the John Deere Classic, where he did finish fifth, he poured in 27 birdies, which shows a birdie fest like this one could suit his skillset.

Young has been all over the map, but his strokes gained performances have mostly been middling. His off-tee game is probably the strongest asset, while his around the green is consistently lagging behind. Given the course and layout, that’s a good profile for golfers this week. At low ownership, he makes for a great GPP target to round out lineups.
