NFL DFS Picks for Week 9: Quarterback
Cash & GPP Pick: Geno Smith (SEA): $5,800
Geno Smith looks primed to be the highest-rostered quarterback this week, but according to Stokastic’s NFL DFS Sims, he also offers the best leverage. Smith has averaged 18.2 points on DraftKings, and while his popularity has fluctuated, his lower projected ownership recently, combined with a matchup against a shaky Rams secondary, makes him a top value play even without D.K. Metcalf and Noah Fant.
In tournaments, quarterback ownership is rarely overwhelming, so avoiding Smith purely because he’s popular is not necessary. Stokastic’s latest run of Sims have him appearing in 22.7% of the top 300 lineups according to ROI.
Other NFL DFS GPP quarterback picks: Jalen Hurts, Joe Burrow, Kirk Cousins, Dak Prescott, Gardner Minshew II
NFL DFS Picks for Week 9: Running Back
Cash Pick: Alvin Kamara (NO): $7,800
Though Chase Brown is projected to be higher owned at a much cheaper salary, Kamara is also a cash game staple this Sunday. With both Jamaal Williams and Kendre Miller out for the Saints, New Orleans’ backfield will be all Kamara’s on Sunday, and matched up with the Panthers, Kamara couldn’t dream to be in a better spot.
Kamara is projecting as optimal 16.80% of the time this slate plays out on DraftKings, per Stokastic’s NFL Boom/Bust Tool. Kamara isn’t as good in tournaments since he is projected to be over-owned at 26.7.
Cash & GPP Pick: Chase Brown (CIN): $5,900
While Kamara is over owned and thus getting away from him in tournaments is logical, the same case cannot be made for newly minted Bengals starting running back Chase Brown. With Zack Moss sidelined this week, Brown is expected to see the lion’s share of touches in the Bengals backfield on Sunday against the Ravens. Though Brown isn’t quite in as good of a spot as Kamara, it’s close and he is only $5,900.
As of this writing, Brown shows up in 60.3% of the 300 lineups with the highest ROI.. Even with 34.6% of lineups expected to roster him, Stokastic’s Sims still don’t think the field is getting anywhere close to enough of Brown in this spot.
Other NFL DFS GPP running back picks: Saquon Barkley, Bijan Robinson, Tony Pollard, Rico Dowdle, Julius Chestnut, Trayveon Williams
NFL DFS Picks for Week 9: Wide Receiver
Cash Pick: Chris Olave (NO): $6,100
Chris Olave has drifted off the map since Spencer Rattler took over behind center for the Saints. With Derek Carr expected to play on Sunday, however, Olave’s $6,100 salary looks way too cheap.
Even with Rattler tossing him the rock, Olave was still extremely production this past Sunday, hauling in eight catches for 107 yards against a stingy Chargers defense. Now with Carr back in the fold, Olave is suddenly $400 cheaper than his average salary on DraftKings this season, and matched up with the lifeless Panthers, nonetheless. Olave has had a good amount of success against Carolina in the past, and it’s highly unlikely that this 2024 version of the Panthers will be able to stop him. Follow the ownership and lock Olave into your cash game lineups.
Other NFL cash game wide receiver picks: CeeDee Lamb, Tyreek Hill, Drake London, Ladd McConkey, Tyler Lockett, Cedric Tillman
GPP Pick: Jake Bobo (SEA): $3,400
Though Jake Bobo is usually an afterthought in Seattle’s offense, he should play a prominent role on Sunday with both Metcalf and Fant out against the Rams. A Bobo-Smith Seahawks stack is only $9,200, giving you plenty of roster flexibility. Not even accounting for Smith, Bobo appears in 25% of top-300 lineups in Stokastic’s Sims. With 13.10% of lineups expected to roster him, Bobo isn’t getting nearly the love he deserves.
Other NFL DFS GPP wide receiver picks: Ja’Marr Chase, A.J. Brown, Cooper Kupp, DeVonta Smith, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Jakobi Meyers, Xavier Legette, Jalen Coker

NFL DFS Picks for Week 9: Tight End
Cash Pick: Mike Gesicki (CIN): $3,100
With wide receiver Tee Higgins out last week, Mike Gesicki saw eight targets against the Eagles, and he caught seven of them for 73 yards. With Moss joining Higgins on the Bengals sideline this week, it’s reasonable to expect Gesicki to continue to be one of Joe Burrow’s main checkdown options, and he’s too inexpensive at only $3,100 on DraftKings.
Gesicki is getting more ownership than any tight end, projecting to be in 18.0% of lineups on DraftKings. However, that number should be even higher in cash games, and Gesicki still simulates in 33% of top-300 lineups.
Other NFL DFS GPP tight end picks: Brock Bowers, David Njoku, Evan Engram, Taysom Hill
