Quarterback NFL DFS Picks for Monday Night Football Week 15: Sam Darnold

DraftKings:

FanDuel: 19.21

Week 12 was a slobber-knocker as the Minnesota Vikings held off the Bears for a 30-27 overtime victory in Chicago. The Monsters of the Midway reared up with 17 points in the fourth quarter to force the issue but were unable to seal the deal.

Sam Darnold tallied 330 yards and two tuddies on 34 attempts, which were his most yards on the season up to that point. Of course, last week the NFL nomad had five aerial scores and 347 yards in a romp over the Atlanta Falcons, so he should be brimming with confidence in this home matchup.

Darnold has 10 games this season with multiple passing scores, culminating in 28 touchdowns, which are a personal best and the third most in the league. In the two games since the loss to Minny, Chi-Town has ceded two touchdowns to both Jared Goff and Brock Purdy, with the latter becoming the third thrower to reach 325-plus yards against Da Bears in the seven most recent games.

Chicago is out of the playoff picture, and after firing new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron in mid-November and head coach Matt Eberflus getting the axe barely a fortnight later, the Bears are now a desired destination for new leadership. The team can still muck with the seeding for its division rivals, but other than that, this game does not have a lot at stake for the visitors.

Quarterback Preview for Monday Night Football

Though it is Darnold who gets the featured call-out, rookie Caleb Williams is not far behind. There is still a lot of flux and chaos at Halas Hall, but with this game being indoors and Williams having a terrific showing in the prior meeting, he should at least have confidence heading into this matchup.

  1. Sam Darnold: In the catbird seat with a great offensive scheme and plentiful skill-position players.
  2. Caleb Williams: In a fun twist, the 340 passing yards in Week 12 were his second most after posting 363 yards in a road loss to Indianapolis. Seven of his 16 touchdowns have come in the last three games, though he is still searching for his first rushing score. Perhaps with the pressure off, he can focus on the little things.
  3. Kirk Cousins: In his last four games, he has zippy tuddies and eight pickles. If not for the team still having slim playoff hopes and the season-ending injury to Raiders pass-rusher extraordinaire Maxx Crosby, Cousins would be butt-last on this list.
  4. Desmond Ridder: The third-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft had four late season starts for Atlanta, leading the Falcons to a 2-2 record. He was not able to build on that in his second season, with a 6-9 record, 12 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. The former Cincinnati Bearcat was dealt to the Arizona Cardinals after Atlanta acquired Cousins for Rondale Moore, who was injured during the training camp. Ridder was signed off the Cardinals practice squad in late October, when Aidan O’Connell went on injured reserve with a fractured thumb. Gardner Minshew II went down in Week 11 with a broken collarbone, then AOC was hurt again last week. That has Ridder in line for a “Remember Me?!” start on Monday Night Football.

Running Back NFL DFS Picks for Monday Night Football Week 15: Bijan Robinson

Bijan Robinson

DFS Salary
DraftKings: $7,600
FanDuel:
$8,900
Fantasy Points
DraftKings:
22.44
FanDuel: 20.35

Last season, Bijan Robinson played in 17 games with 16 starts. Yes, that whole headache/migraine kerfuffle in Week 7 was a thing, and, of course, having head coach Arthur Smith was a detraction as well.

This year through 13 games, Robinson has one more carry, 1 more rushing yard and four more rushing touchdowns than last year. The total touchdowns this season are one more than 2023 since he did have four scores as a rookie pass-catcher.

Tyler Allgeier projects for nearly 10 touches, and he has three rushing scores on the season, including one last week in Minnesota. This is not really a split backfield, with Robinson averaging 19 carries and five targets over the last seven games; it is because Cousins has been failing so miserably that the team is forced into using Allgeier out of self-preservation. Arthur Smith would be so proud.

Running Back Preview for Monday Night Football

Aaron Jones has been receiving a lighter workload as the Vikings have designs on a postseason run. The team clinched a playoff ticket last night with the Seattle loss. Jones has only one game with more than a 63% snap share over the last five matchups. Cam Akers has been on the field for approximately one-third of the snaps in these tilts, with fullback C.J. Ham having a similar presence. The high-value touches are going to be earmarked for Jones, but if the team is able to get out to a comfortable lead, Akers and Ty Chandler are likely to see the bulk of the action.

D’Andre Swift has been managing a groin injury, though he is expected to play. Roschon Johnson is out with a concussion, which leaves Travis Homer and Darrynton Evans as the backups.

The Stokastic NFL stat projections have Swift for 15.11 carries, 57.96 yards and a 30% probability of reaching the end zone. He also projects for 3.33 targets, 2.37 receptions and another 16.9 yards. Evans projects for 1.7 carries and Homer 1.2 targets, with this duo needing something to befall Swift in-game to really be in the mix.

Las Vegas has indicated that Sincere McCormick will be the lead back going forward, even with Alexander Mattison healthy. Ameer Abdullah will be the pass-catching option, though McCormick is likely to get a chance to showcase that aspect of his game tonight as well. McCormick was an undrafted rookie out of UTSA, earning the Conference USA Freshman of the Year Award in 2019. During his sophomore and junior seasons, he posted top-5 rushing totals among all Division I FBS players.

  1. Bijan Robinson: It isn’t even close.
  2. Sincere McCormick: Salary saver on both DraftKings ($5,100) and FanDuel ($6,200).
  3. Aaron Jones: Could have a lighter workload if Chicago can’t keep pace.
  4. D’Andre Swift: He is under contract for next season, and with Johnson sidelined, there is not much else behind him to “try out” for next year. If hurt, he will play … if injured, then Chicago is in trouble.
  5. Tyler Allgeier: Will get touches.
  6. Cam Akers: Potential for mop-up duty, in addition to preserving Jones.
  7. Ameer Abdullah, Alexander Mattison and Travis Homer: Deep cuts but still in play for the massive top-heavy tournaments on this two-game slate.

Pass Catcher NFL DFS Picks for Monday Night Football Week 15: Drake London

Drake London

DFS Salary
DraftKings: $6,400
FanDuel:
$7,500
Fantasy Points
DraftKings:
16.17
FanDuel: 13.31

Tonight it is easy to love Drake London, with his $2,000 savings on FanDuel and $1,800 on DraftKings when compared to Justin Jefferson. Jefferson is likely to be battling Jaylon Johnson, who held him in check in the last matchup.

In the last four games, London had 12, seven, 16 and 10 targets. He also works the short and medium routes well, which dovetails with the noodle-arm of Cousins.

You can also employ Darnell Mooney and Ray-Ray McCloud III since Cousins continues to pepper both with targets. Jordan Addison is the preferred option for the Vikings, and he should see less attention than Jefferson and the running game.

Pass Catchers Preview for Monday Night Football

Jakobi Meyers is going to have yet another quarterback throwing him passes, but he continues to be the last man standing in Las Vegas. Things are crowded in Chicago with DJ Moore, Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze each taking turns having big games.

  1. Drake London: Take the savings and find differentiation elsewhere.
  2. Jordan Addison: Fingers crossed this is a trap game for Jefferson, who is otherworldly and could easily rip out the hearts of those fading him.
  3. Jakobi Meyers: Anything less than double-digit fantasy points, even on FanDuel, will be disappointing, to say the least. He has cleared this milestone in six of his last seven games.
  4. Ray-Ray McCloud III: Volume over yardage.
  5. Justin Jefferson: This is my stand.
  6. Da Bears: Let personal preference be your guide among Moore, Allen and Odunze.
  7. Tre Tucker: Meh, but still worthy of being mentioned by name.

  1. Brock Bowers: The most popular option, though there are ample discount dandies below him on the salary sheet.
  2. T.J. Hockenson: Best point-per-dollar option based on median fantasy projections. Please note: He had double-digit fantasy points in two of his six games this season.
  3. Kyle Pitts: You don’t want to click on his name, but neither does anyone else.
  4. Cole Kmet: He has 20 targets in the last five games but only three and zippy in the last two. The trend is not our friend. No other Chicago tight end has seen a target since Week 9, which is wild.
  5. Michael Mayer: Surprised everyone last week; could continue to get work now that he is healthy, and the Raiders are lacking pass-catchers.
  6. Josh Oliver: The giant slayer on primetime slates.

Defense/Special Teams NFL DFS Picks for Monday Night Football

  1. Minnesota Vikings: Facing a rookie who is the most sacked quarterback in the league. The Vikings “only” got Williams three times in Week 12, and they have one sack in each of the two subsequent games. Still the 40 on the season are impressive. Skol.
  2. Atlanta Falcons: Nine sacks over the last two weeks; just 19 on the season.
  3. Las Vegas: Nine sacks over the last two weeks; however, Maxx Crosby (ankle) is done for the year. Cousins was sacked once in each of the last two games.
  4. Chicago Bears: Minnesota will be ready for them this time.
