Unlike last week’s Ravens-Chargers Monday Night Football showdown, Browns-Broncos doesn’t carry much star appeal. The skill position players on both Denver and Cleveland leave a lot to be desired from a fantasy football perspective, so it makes a lot of sense that Broncos quarterback Bo Nix is projected to be by far the highest-owned Captain on DraftKings on Monday night.
Flipping the script a bit can be crucial on Showdown slates, however, and Browns tight end David Njoku is popping in Stokastic’s Sims as the top contrarian Captain on the board.
After struggling for much of the beginning of the season when Deshaun Watson was healthy, Njoku is taking his game to new heights with Jameis Winston throwing him the rock. Outside of last week’s dud against the Steelers in the snow, Njoku had been extremely productive in all but one of Winston’s starts. It’s a tough spot against a talented Broncos defense, but this matchup actually sets up pretty well for Njoku. With Cedric Tillman injured and Patrick Surtain II expected to shadow Jerry Jeudy, Njoku is in a great spot to get peppered with targets.
As of this writing, Njoku is only projected to be 6.5% owned as a Captain on Monday night. Considering Njoku is showing up as a Captain in 9.0% of the top 300 lineups according to ROI in Stokastic’s Sims, he’s under-owned.

It still feels weird not going with a kicker in this spot, but anytime one can hype up Kadarius Toney that opportunity needs to be taken. All jokes aside, Toney is currently projecting as one of highest-graded leverage plays on the slate, and his $200 salary can go a long way towards roster construction on DraftKings.
Toney’s game log looks rough, with zero receptions and only one rushing attempt (negative-7 yards) all season. That said, Toney should conceivably be on the field at least some tonight with Tillman out, and this is all about his price tag on DraftKings.
Toney is currently appearing in 8.3% of top-300 lineups as a Flex while being projected to be in only 2.9% of lineups.
