NBA Lineup Optimizer Advice
Once you’ve logged into your account the process kicks off by selecting three key options. First, pick your desired DFS slate between DraftKings Main and FanDuel Main.
Next, choose your ownership setting. I usually opt for contrarian lineups because I enjoy playing GPPs, but you can also select from all lineups, chalky lineups or balanced lineups.
Lastly, you have the option to lock in a player based on optimal percentage, projection or boom percentage — I usually like to see the boom percentage, but you can easily toggle between the three options. You can also skip this step if you’d like.
Today, I selected DraftKings Main, balanced and skip. I’m going with balanced today because we have a medium sized slate with seven games. The boom percentage really likes the Rockets without Fred VanVleet in a pace up spot against Indiana. Alperen Sengun and Amen Thompson have the two highest boom percentages so keep an eye on lineups with them in it.
If you’re playing cash games like double-ups or three-mans, you could also select balanced or chalky for better projected lineups. You can and will get some of the same players in each ownership setting but as long as you adjust the uniqueness based on the size and type of contest you’re playing, it’s all good.
After discarding a few I didn’t like I saved 20 lineups. The highest exposures I ended with were 100% Amen Thompson, 70% Precious Achiuwa and 50% of Dillon Brooks at $4,400. The Knicks continue to play without Julius Randle and will also be without O.G. Anunoby tonight opening up a ton of usage and value, resulting in four Knicks in my top 10 most exposed players.
Free Lineup of the Day
Here’s a sample of a lineup that resulted from the 20 selections. This lineup projects for 277.39 points and includes Thompson and Brooks but no Achiuwa. It does include two of the four Knicks, Donte DiVincenzo and Isaiah Hartenstein. It uses $49,900 in salary and has a good combination of balance and projection. I like this lineup for single-entry tournaments but if I was firing a single bullet in the $100,000-to-first 150-max tournament, I would look for a more contrarian lineup.
If you take a look at the image of the lineup you see to the right there are two bars showing the projection and ownership levels of this lineup. The green marker moves for each lineup you view making it super easy to determine if you want to save or discard it.
It’s important to note these exposures are based completely off my settings. As a reminder, you can change between lineup builds and save lineups along the way. In total, I had 20 lineups saved in less than five minutes. That’s what makes this such a great NBA DFS tool for newer players and players who don’t have enough time to research +EV plays before lock.
Selecting the chalky lineup option is also a great way to see the types of lineups your competition is playing on any given day. I use this tool daily even if I’m not exporting the lineups. It’s a great way to get an overall view on the slate, having projections and ownership in the same place.
We have a number of players listed questionable for tonight, including Luka Doncic, Damian Lillard and a few Memphis Grizzlies. Lucky for us, Lineup Generator projections are updated automatically, so if Luka or Dame are ruled out and some decisions are made in Memphis, just run the generator after the news hits and you have a +EV lineup ready to smash the competition. It also makes it easy to export your lineups to a CSV file, so you can just point and click to upload them to DraftKings.
