User Wins $5,800 With Stokastic’s NBA DFS Tools: DFS Winning Lineups
Stokastic user chestercheech is a testament to the fast-acting power of the Sims — it took them less than two weeks to take first in a big DraftKings contest. And obviously, since they were rocking a Stokastic avatar, there are Hall of Fame implications, details of which you can find here.
Chestercheech used the Sims, so let’s head to the Post-Contest Simulator to evaluate their lineups’ ROI.
They actually had four lineups finish in the top 51, and you can check all four of those out in the screenshot below. For now, let’s focus on the two top-4 lineups.
What’s super interesting about these two lineups is that they had very little in common. Only two players — Russell Westbrook and Nikola Jokic — appeared in both the first-place and the fourth-place lineup. That’s a surprising amount of uniqueness between high-performing builds, so good on chestercheech for embracing that. Remember: When you favorite your Sims lineups for exporting, you can select the number of unique players you want to increase differentiation.
Now we get into the discussion of simulated ROI versus actual ROI. Chestercheech’s fourth-place lineup simulated better in the Pre-Contest Simulator — 105.2% ROI, which was the best of any lineup that placed top 10 in the actual contest. The winning lineup simulated at -1.5%. But there are other factors to note.
For one, it’s ownership sum was less than most any other high-finishing lineup, so it was a ballsy, contrarian build. Second, it was a very Nuggets-focused lineup with Jokic, Westbrook, Peyton Watson and Michael Porter Jr. — and the Nuggets have been a low-floor, high-ceiling team all season. The fact of the matter is that this type of roster construction best suits a multi-entry style that allows for diversification as well as some stacks like this one. These are things the Sims factor into the metrics.
Chestercheech 150-maxed this contest; ultimately, 39 of those lineups ended up returning positively on their investment. That’s a solid day’s work for the Sims and a strong padding to chestercheech’s bankroll.
