It would appear that there is more attrition in the NBA these days than in the NFL. Boston will be without Jrue Holiday, Al Horford and Kristaps Porzingis, plus Derrick White (foot) and Jaylen Brown (illness) are questionable after missing Sunday’s game. For good measure, Jayson Tatum is also on the injury report with a sore right knee.
The Celtics are hosting the Miami Heat, who will be without Jimmy Butler, as he tweaked his knee late on Sunday when the team fell to the Raptors in Toronto. Nikola Jovic is likely to miss a fifth game with an ankle injury and Josh Richardson a sixth game with an illness of some sort.
Whoever is available for Boston looks good, as do Bam Adebayo, Tyler Hero and Terry “Remember Me?!” Rozier. Once the dust settles, there will be a much clearer picture for DFS purposes.
This is an island game for the Timberwolves, who last played on Friday, and they will not take the court again until Wednesday when they are in Los Angeles facing the Clippers. Over the last 10 games, the Lakers have posted the seventh-worst defensive efficiency rating, and the team is coming off a hard-fought 105-104 victory last night against the Jazz in Salt Lake City.
Anthony Edwards has leveled up with a career high 27.7 points per game. Though his 45.3% field goal rate is the lowest of the last three years, his 56.3% effective field goal rate is at an all-time high. This is because he has a stellar 42.8% success rate on 10.9 3-point attempts per game, which is four more attempts than last year and three more than his career average. He is getting more looks himself with Karl-Anthony Towns now in New York and Donte DiVincenzo struggling to acclimate to his new environment.
Mike Conley has posted two strong games after missing a trio of tilts with a sprained toe. The 37-year-old has had a dramatic impact on the team’s net rating this season and the offensive efficiency of Edwards, with each metric seeing a 6- to 7-point improvement per 100 possessions when the venerable veteran is on the court. Minutes are the key, and since this is a standalone game, he should see something in line with the average from his most recent pair of performances, or 32.5 minutes, 14.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals. He and Edwards are likely to be lost in the scramble closer to lock if Tatum is ruled in and Boston value like Sam Hauser and Payton Pritchard land in the starting lineup.
Last night Anthony Davis played 39 minutes, oft-injured Rui Hachimura saw 40 and LeBron James logged 36. Los Angeles needs to bank some wins for the inevitable stretch when one of their dynamic duo is injured. It would make sense both give it a go tonight, but new head coach JJ Reddick could have a quick hook if the game is out of hand in the second half.
Cam Reddish and D’Angelo Russell are questionable after sitting out yesterday due to illness. Austin Reaves also sat with a pelvis injury. That had Gabe Vincent pushed into the starting lineup for Reaves, so keep him in mind if two of the three are out again tonight, even in the event he resumes his reserve role.
Dalton Knecht is very scoring dependent, so he is a neutral option tonight, though Max Christie is also a possible play if the Lakers are thin again.

Nikola Vucevic: Bulls vs. Nets
NBA DFS Projections
DraftKings: 41.63 | FanDuel: 39.93
NBA DFS Ownership Projections
DraftKings: 22.7% | FanDuel: 24.7%
DFS Salary
DraftKings: $8,400 | FanDuel: $8,000
Chicago is mostly healthy, though Patrick Williams (foot) will be out for a seventh straight game and Coby White is questionable.
Nikola Vucevic is back up over 20 points per game for the first time in four seasons while also averaging 10.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.6 combined blocks and steals.
Vucevic is going against a short-handed Brooklyn team, and his inside-out game gives him an advantage. He also has power forward eligibility on FanDuel, which is crucial for the blue site. Lonzo Ball is expected to play tonight, but he is not a viable option with so many other value plays and his capped minutes hurt his fantasy upside tremendously.
If White is out, then Ayo Dosunmu, Josh Giddey and Zach LaVine are all secondary options who are fine for tournaments.
Brooklyn is a wait-and-see spot with Ben Simmons unlikely to play on the back-to-back, Cameron Thomas out for at least a week and Day’Ron Sharpe missing yet another game. Dorian Finney-Smith, Ziaire Williams, Cameron Johnson and Trendon Watford are all questionable, so this is a moving target. Nicolas Claxton is dealing with a possible suspension for a flagrant-2 foul ejection Sunday, but if he plays, he has no other concerns.
Dennis Schroder is healthy, and he gets to look for his shot with Thomas out. Jalen Wilson should draw his third consecutive start, though there are likely to be better value options from Boston once more news is available. Johnson ideally will be starting, as he has been a fine source of fantasy goodness in this ever-evolving Brooklyn rotation.
Today’s Top Sports Betting Pick
This is a back-to-back for Los Angeles, so the thought for the under on LeBron’s assist 9.5 assists prop would have an out if the Lakers are outclassed in Minnesota and the team pulls the plug on the starters late in the game.
Looking at the screen shot of Portfolio EV, we can see this wager is likely to come to fruition 58% of the time, which brings a steady 4.7% expected ROI.
BetRivers and Fliff are offering -127 and -125, which, when considering the true odds of -139, give this wager a 4.3% or 4.7% expected ROI.
Using Portfolio EV to crunch the numbers takes the guesswork out of finding +EV bets. This powerhouse tool pinpoints inefficient lines in a flash, making it easy to spot profitable opportunities.

Stokastic’s Advanced NBA Statistical Projections have James projected for 34.5 minutes and 8.57 assists. While that is below the 10 needed for this under to fail, it is far from a lock.
James is averaging 9.4 assists per game, but he has 10 or more in three of the last four, including 14 last night when the Lakers were missing several key facilitators. This wager is likely to go down to the wire, though the math is in our favor.
