NBA DFS Picks & Building Blocks Today: Saturday, March 23

NBA DFS Picks: Building Blocks

Dejounte Murray: Hawks vs. Hornets

Stokastic’s Fantasy Point Projections
DraftKings: 52.52 | FanDuel: 50.11
Stokastic’s Rostership Projections
DraftKings: 32.8% | FanDuel: 33.5%
DFS Salary
DraftKings: $$9,700 | FanDuel: $9,900

Dejounte Murray has been posting excellent numbers in the 13 games since Trae Young was lost to injury. In this stretch, the former University of Washington stalwart has averaged 37 minutes and 21.3 field goal attempts. This has culminated in 25.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 8.6 assists and 2.1 stocks (combined steals and blocks).

Charlotte continues to be middling on defense, which mitigates the expenses of Murray’s surging salary.

It has also been a savvy strategy to target the Hornets frontcourt with opposing bigs, which means both Clint Capela and Bruno Fernando are in play tonight, with Onyeka Okongwu expected to be held out as he regains his conditioning after a long injury layoff. Fernando has power forward eligibility on both DraftKings and FanDuel, which makes him a strong play on each site and he can be paired with Capela on the same roster.

Bogdan Bogdanovic and De’Andre Hunter are neutral options, as it is harder for them to provide much return on investment as their elevating salaries, even with Jalen Johnson and Saddiq Bey on the sidelines.

The Hornets are adequate options, though at this time none of them are really popping up on any of the main DFS sites, with sub-15% projected popularity across the roster. Depending on how other information shakes out, Miles Bridges, Brandon Miller, Tre Mann, Nick Richards and Vasilije Micic are worthy of being “last man in” players. Davis Bertans and Aleksej Pokusevski would be classified as differentiation discount dandies.

Devin Booker: Suns at Spurs

Stokastic’s Fantasy Point Projections
DraftKings: 43.93 | FanDuel: 42.69
Stokastic’s Rostership Projections
DraftKings: 10.5% | FanDuel: 12.2%
DFS Salary
DraftKings: $8,900 | FanDuel: $9,300

Devin Booker does not project as well as Murray, but he is the perfect pivot away from his more popular counterpart. In his six games since returning from injury, Booker is averaging 36.4 minutes and 18.7 field goal attempts, with a 48.2% conversion rate. This has resulted in 23.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 1.2 stocks.

Though he has not topped 50 fantasy points in this stretch, he is the driving force behind a team hoping to make a run in the postseason.

Currently, the Suns are tied with the Dallas Mavericks for the sixth-best record in the Western Conference, but the tiebreaker is pushing Phoenix into the top of the play-in tournament. That makes every game crucial down the stretch since both teams will be doing their best to avoid this ignominious fate.

This is a back-to-back for the Spurs, who lost last night to the visiting Memphis Grizzlies. None of the starters played egregious minutes, so we should see the standard baselines in tonight’s game. These teams resume the matchup again on Monday, with both getting the day off in San Antonio on Sunday.

Aside from Josh Okogie, who is questionable with an abdomen issue, the rest of the Suns are available. That makes things a little crowded, so it is hard to be overly excited about any of the regulars.

Victor Wembanyama had a 60 fantasy point effort last night, in just 33 minutes. over the last four games, he is averaging six stocks, which is just wild. He is one of four players with a median fantasy projection of just over 50 fantasy points, making him in play for tournaments.

If anyone ends up getting the night off after playing Friday, there could be some interest in other San Antonio players.

NBA DFS Picks: Key Games

Boston Celtics at Chicago Bulls

The Celtics have an 11-game lead on the rest of the Eastern Conference and essentially half that margin over the Western Conference, so they are looking good for home-court advantage. Boston is on an eight game winning streak, while also going 19-2 over the last 21 games.

They have been rotating off days for their key players, so we must see who is in the starting lineup tonight. This is a back-to-back and the third game in four days, so if things stay in a similar pattern, expect Jaylen Brown, Kristaps Porzingis and probably one of Jrue Holiday or Derrick White to sit tonight.

Jayson Tatum would be a desirable target if this is the case and Payton Pritchard would again be a solid salary saver, since he is likely to run the offense in mop-up duty, in addition to slotting in for whichever guard sits. Al Horford is an interesting option

Today’s Top Sports Betting Pick

Kevin Durant has been content to let Booker do the heavy lifting this season, though the old man has been the most healthy of the Suns.

Tonight we should look to the under 25.5 points + rebounds + assists (PRA) prop looking like an intriguing target at -104 on FanDuel.

By using OddsShopper to do the heavy lifting when researching favorable bets, we can quickly spot inefficient lines like this one, and having accounts at multiple sports books allows us to pivot to the best number quickly.

Per the true odds of -115 (how OddsShopper measures the potential expected ROI of a given wager), this opportunity has an excellent 5.0% positive expected ROI as a function of the inefficient line.

NBA Bet Pro currently has Durant projected for 35.0 minutes, 25.37 points, 6.56 rebounds and 4.12 assists for a 36.05 PRA. While that is slightly above tonight’s targeted threshold, it still does not account for variable outcomes. The 54% win rate does provide some comfort when looking at a long time horizon to realize the value held within this posted line.

Over his last six games with Booker back, Durant is averaging 37.6 minutes and 17.2 field goal attempts, which has resulted in 20.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists for a 30.7 PRA per game.
