PG/SG: Kris Dunn (LAC) – $4,400
Wednesday night’s slate is a microcosm of the league’s rampant injury problem, as the list of players who are either questionable or out is overwhelming. As a result, more value plays will continue to emerge throughout the day on DraftKings, making it likely that ownership projections look completely different at lock than they do now. That said, there is still information to lean on early in the day, and Clippers combo guard Kris Dunn is currently the highest-graded leverage play on the board.
Dunn has found the fountain of youth in his first season in Los Angeles. He has always been a defensive stalwart, and after playing for five other NBA organizations, he seems to have found his niche playing for head coach Tyronn Lue and the Clippers. Dunn is action averaging 19.7 DraftKings points per game, and at only $4,440 on DraftKings, the field isn’t getting to him at nearly the rate it should be.
As of this writing, Dunn showing up in 33.7% of the top 300 lineups according to ROI, but only 15.62% of the field is expected to roster him.
SF/PF: Franz Wagner (ORL) – $9,000
Sticking with the Magic-Clippers game, emerging Magic star Franz Wagner is also falling through the cracks on DraftKings. Though Wagner’s $9,000 price tag might cause a bit of sticker shock, he’s earned every bit of that tag, averaging 54.35 DraftKings points over his past four games. Dating back further than that, Wagner has been sensational since Paolo Banchero got hurt at the end of October, and despite his nightly production, he continues to get slept on.
As of this writing, Wagner is projected to be in only 7.38% of lineups on DraftKings, yet he shows up in 16.7% of top-300 simulated lineups.
C: Donovan Clingan (POR) – $4,500
Ownership and optimal projections are likely to constantly change as news comes in throughout the day. As more value opens up, the value that we already have gets less popular, and the cycle continues. One of the current top value plays on the slate is Portland center Donovan Clingan, and the Trail Blazers’ first-round pick should continue to get plenty of run with Deandre Ayton out. Though Clingan is projected to be in 18.06% of lineups on DraftKings, he’s still showing up as one of the most positively leveraged player on the slate.
As is the case with most rookies in the NBA, Clingan’s production has varied on a night-to-night basis. That variance is shown in the 50.5 DraftKings points Clingan put up against the Timberwolves on Nov. 13, in between two mediocre games against the Hawks and that same Timberwolves team. Considering Clingan is only $4,500 on DraftKings, his upside is obvious, and he’s showing up in 34.7% of the top 300 lineups in Stokastic’s Sims.
