MLB DFS Contrarian Picks Today: Monday, June 10
MLB DFS Contrarian Pitcher
Athletics-Padres: Joey Estes
Stokastic’s Top 2 Pitcher Rate
DraftKings: 11.9%
DFS Salary
DraftKings: $6,800
With only six games on tonight’s docket and really strong expensive pitching options, ownership is very concentrated at the position. As of this writing, Dylan Cease, Logan Gilbert, Chris Paddack, Erick Fedde and Spencer Arrighetti are projected to be a combined 172.1% owned on DraftKings. Though it makes sense that all five of those pitchers are getting love, pretty much every other pitcher on the slate is coming in underowned. Among that group, Oakland right-hander Joey Estes is the top contrarian pitcher on the slate.
Estes is averaging 14.9 fantasy points per game while sporting a 4.67 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, 25 strikeouts and six walks over 27 innings. Having allowed one run or fewer in three of his five outings, Estes’ 3.10 xERA is much more indicative of the quality of his pitching in 2024. Coming off a dominant outing in which he allowed one hit and struck out five without walking a batter over 6.1 scoreless innings, Estes is in great form right now, and he’s getting completely forgotten about on DraftKings.
Estes is currently projected to be a top-2 pitcher 11.9% of the time this slate plays out. With only 2.2% of lineups expected to roster him, it is relatively easy to get over the field on Estes in GPPs.

MLB DFS Contrarian Stack
Athletics-Padres: Dylan Cease
Stokastic’s Top Stack Projection
DraftKings: 4.0%
Ownership Projection
DraftKings: 2.2%
Unlike at pitcher where five players are projected to get the majority of love, hitter ownership is extremely spread out. Only two offenses are currently projected to be under 5% owned as a stack, with both the Athletics and White Sox unappealing to the field. Only six games in play and ownership extremely spread out mean most of the offenses are projected to be either correctly or over-owned. That’s not the case with Oakland, however, as the A’s have emerged as the top contrarian stack on the board.
It goes without saying that the Oakland stack is very unlikely to work out in this spot. Not only are the A’s a bad offense, but it would be silly to expect them to have success against an ace like Dylan Cease. That being said, Cease is projected to be by far the highest-owned pitcher on the slate, making the path to the top of tournaments a much easier one if he happens to fail. Plus, the A’s still project to be the top stack 4.0% of the time this slate plays out on DraftKings. With only 2.2% of the field expected to stack them, Oakland is the most positively leveraged offense on the slate.
Other Contrarian Stacks to Consider
White Sox, Rockies, Giants
