MLB DFS Contrarian Picks Today: Tuesday, August 13
MLB DFS Contrarian Pitcher
Blue Jays-Angels: Carson Fulmer
Stokastic’s Top 2 Pitcher Rate
DraftKings: 8.4%
DFS Salary
DraftKings: $7,800
With nine games in play and weak pitching options across every price point, ownership at pitcher is expected to be pretty condensed. As of this writing, Michael King, Nestor Cortes Jr. and Paul Blackburn are projected to be a combined 94.9% owned on DraftKings. While King will undoubtedly end up the highest of the bunch, expect to see a lot of lineups with some combination of those three pitchers. Unlike last night where the highly owned pitchers were really good arms in high-upside spots, tonight’s chalk du jour is popular only because of a lack of truly good options. That being said, it makes a lot of sense to differentiate at pitcher tonight, and Angels right-hander Carson Fulmer is the top pitcher to target on DraftKings.
Fulmer comes into tonight’s contest sporting a 3.74 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 64 strikeouts and 30 walks over 67.1 innings, and his $7,800 price tag stands out on a slate with so few quality options. A matchup with the Blue Jays isn’t ideal, but Toronto’s lineup has certainly seen better days, and Fulmer currently projects to be the highest-leveraged player on the entire slate.
Stokastic’s Top Pitchers Tool projects Fulmer to be a top-2 pitcher 8.4% of the time this slate plays out on DraftKings. With only 2.7% of lineups expected to roster him, Fulmer is one of the top differentiators on the board.

MLB DFS Contrarian Stack
Braves-Giants: Braves
Stokastic’s Top Stack Projection
DraftKings: 4.2%
Ownership Projection
DraftKings: 2.8%
Similar to ownership at pitcher, where three players are projected to get the majority of love, the Yankees, Blue Jays and Red Sox are a combined 32.7% owned on DraftKings, per Stokastic’s MLB DFS projections. While the Yankees will be the highest-owned team, pretty much every other offense outside of those three will be somewhat contrarian. Among these, the Braves stand out, with Austin Riley and the rest of the lineup being the top contrarian stack available.
Coming off a tough month of July, it’s difficult to get overly excited about the Braves right now. Injuries have finally started to catch up with Atlanta, and losing Ronald Acuna Jr., Ozzie Albies and Michael Harris has really shortened the depth of its lineup. When comparing the Braves of this year to their record-setting campaign of 2023, it’s easy to get caught up in how much worse Atlanta has been offensively this season. All that being said, this lineup still has massive upside on a night-to-night basis, and the field is sleeping on them in a big way in a good spot against Kyle Harrison. After a 1-0 win in extra innings last night, expect the Braves to get rolling early and often against a left-hander of much lower quality than Blake Snell.
The Braves are projected to be the top stack 4.2% of the time this slate plays out on DraftKings, but only 2.8% of lineups are expected to stack them.
Other Contrarian Stacks to Consider
Pirates, Giants, Rockies, White Sox
