There are no small PGA tournaments, just small DFS players. I mean, the prize pools on DraftKings for these “lower level” PGA events are still way up there, and prizes to first for main GPPs are still $200,000. Our man Greg Ehrenberg was on top of the John Deere Classic this week, taking home $50,000 with a win in the $5-entry $250K Drive the Green on DraftKings. And yet too many folks seem to sleep on these contests simply because Scottie Scheffler doesn’t grace us with his presence. Well, if the last few weeks have shown us anything in the PGA DFS world, it’s that you need to get in our PGA DFS Sims Tool and start churning out lineups for the John Deere Classics and the Rocket Mortgages of the PGA calendar. How to Win in PGA DFS Without Being an Expert: Stokastic Sims Tool
Since you see Greg on a bunch of our shows and videos breaking down slates and tools, you may be tempted to assume that Greg is a PGA DFS mastermind who used all of his years of experience and PGA cunning to pro his way up to the top of the leaderboard for the John Deere Classic.
Greg wants you to know that this is not the case at all: His cunning took him as far as clicking some buttons in the Sims and letting them do the work for him.
“I don’t really do much for PGA other than build lineups in the Contest Generator and then sim the lineups and select my top 150,” Greg said. “I trust the tools and don’t have a vast knowledge of PGA DFS on my own.”
So basically, to win $50,000, Greg did the most basic of basic Sims runs and then 150-maxed with the 150 highest-ROI lineups that the Sims gave him. It so happened that one of those simulated lineups was a 797-point humdinger.
That fantasy total is just about as good as it gets. Greg’s winning lineup not only got six of six through the cut — a must for cashing big in PGA DFS — but every one of his golfers finished top 12 and five were top 7. He had three of the four golfers who finished tied for second or better, including winner David Thompson.
It’s a testament to A) 150-maxing if you can, casting a wide net to give yourself the best chance, and B) the PGA Sims finding these high-upside lineups that aren’t going to dupe. Look at the ownership on C.T. Pan and Sami Valimaki: 1.8% and 0.56%.
