Winning a large DFS contest can feel a lot like your chances of winning the lottery — exciting, but unrealistic. I am living proof that’s not the case thanks to Stokastic’s Sims. I started using Stokastic’s Sims at the beginning of this football season. Before that, I was an extremely casual DFS player. Most of my contests were private ones with friends, and while I occasionally entered the massive GPPs, I never came close to winning anything. That all changed once I began taking advantage of Stokastic’s DFS tools.
How I Went from DFS Beginner to Winner with Stokastic’s Sims
Once I gained access to the Sims, I knew I needed to learn more to use them effectively. Thanks to the various “how to” videos and articles from our content team, I quickly got up to speed and was ready to dive in. I familiarized myself with the terminology, the different philosophies for various contests and general gameplay strategies.
My process often starts by watching our daily videos, or reading the articles published by the content team. These resources offer unique insights from some of the sharpest DFS players in the world, helping me better understand projections and strategies. The live videos cover topics like tournament strategy, single-lineup building, and more, all designed to help you craft stronger lineups. They’ve certainly improved mine and given me ideas on how to adjust my projections within the simulator – a powerful and incredibly useful tool.
Additionally, I consistently refer to Stokastic’s updated NFL DFS projections, NFL DFS ownership, and NFL boom or bust data tables to gather more information across various sports. These resources are a game-changer, offering valuable data that enhances my decision-making process.
I try to do this as much as possible, but there are some days where I’m a bit caught up and only have time to run the Sims and select from there. Regardless, both methods have proven to be profitable for me and countless other users. The resources we have available will put you in a better position to succeed than ever before. You don’t have to be an expert at anything DFS related. Heck, I sure as hell wasn’t and my life has changed because of it.
Over the past few months, I’ve had three significant DFS wins:
My first big victory came on a College Football Saturday in September. I very much enjoy College Football, follow my team (Nebraska) closely, and keep tabs on other big schools and players, but I’m no expert in crafting an optimal lineup.
On that Saturday, I used the CFB Sims, adjusted the settings accordingly for the contest I was planning to enter, and selected 14 lineups that had the highest average simulated ROI.
Later that evening, I checked my entries and couldn’t believe my eyes — I was in 1st place out of 8,000 entries, winning $10,000! Although I ultimately finished 3rd, I still cashed out $2,500, marking my first big win.
It took me only a few weeks of using the Sims to get into a position of winning a substantial amount of money. Again, I had never even sniffed cashing out in a large contest before, let alone finishing top three!
My next big win I came for the top and held it. On a Sunday morning, I woke up early to watch my Chicago Bears play the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.
While browsing DraftKings, I noticed a showdown contest for the game and decided to enter. I ran the Sims and submitted a few lineups, which took about 5 to 10 minutes altogether.
By the end of the game, I had won $1,000. Not only did I win, but I dominated by almost 13 points. If you’re an avid DFS player, you know that winning by a double-digit margin is rare, but the Sims helped me separate myself from the competition.
This goes to show the effectiveness of the tools in both large field contests and showdown competitions. I was immediately hooked on doing both instead of limiting myself to just the most popular ones.
My most recent, and biggest, win came during the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks Sunday Night Football game. My process involved adjusting our Sims’ settings for the contest layout – large field, max pool size, and proper payout distribution for first place.
I generated lineups about 20 minutes before kickoff, ensuring the latest projections were in place. From there, I reviewed the Sims’ top ROI lineups, selecting the highest-rated ones and a few others I felt had potential.
One lineup that stood out was captained by Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs, a choice I wouldn’t have ever considered without the Sims. In showdown contests, the captain earns 1.5x the points of a flex player, so choosing wisely is critical. The Sims identified Doubs as an optimal captain, and the lineup delivered.
The whole process – from running the simulation to uploading my lineups – took about five minutes. It’s that simple.
Now, it goes without saying that there is an element of luck needed to overcome thousands and thousands of other entries. But to even get into a position where luck can work in your favor, you need a solid foundation to lay the groundwork — and that’s exactly what the Sims provide.
If you’re serious about competing in DFS contests, you need to take advantage of Stokastic’s tools. They’ll give you the edge to put yourself in a constant position to succeed. Take it from me — someone who was once the most novice DFS player just a few months ago, now sitting $20,000+ richer. Don’t hold yourself back – get into contention with a Stokastic+ NFL package!
