How Do Underdog Fantasy Multipliers Work?

Anyone who plays daily fantasy pick’em is familiar with the format: You select players and their statistics, then decide whether they will exceed or fall short of a projection set by the house. The more picks you get right, the higher your winnings. This general structure is common across most pick’em sites. However, sites like Underdog Fantasy can differ significantly in their payout structures — both in terms of amounts and modifiers when they apply multipliers to winnings. So how do Underdog Fantasy multipliers work, and what sets the pay format apart from other pick’em apps like PrizePicks and Sleeper?

In this guide, we’ll break down the multiplier structure for Underdog Fantasy and provide insights on how to use it to your advantage when building Underdog entries.

How Do Underdog Fantasy Multipliers Work?

Underdog’s multiplier structure is closer to the standard format that you see on apps like PrizePicks. They are fixed to each pick number, and you can choose to either go for an all-or-nothing entry or give yourself some wiggle room to miss a pick or two. The exact multipliers are different than those for PrizePicks, however, and Underdog has also included a modifier system that can boost your total entry multiplier. We will break down all of these facets of Underdog payouts below.

Underdog Fantasy Standard Entry

A Standard entry lets you make between two and five picks, offering higher payouts if you get all your picks right. However, if you miss any pick, the entry is a loss — no payout at all. The payout structure for Standard entries is as follows:

No. of Picks in EntryPayout for All CorrectScorchers
23X100X
36X150X
410X200X
520X250X

Underdog Fantasy Flex (Pick8) Entry

Underdog Flex entries require at least three picks, and you can still receive a payout if you make three to five picks but miss one. While the overall payout for a perfect entry is lower than that of a Standard entry, the ability to at least recoup your money with an incorrect pick enhances the value of the Flex entry.

Previously, five picks were the maximum for a Flex or Standard entry. However, with Pick8, you can now include up to eight picks in your Flex entry.

Another great feature of Underdog Pick8 is that any Flex entry with six or more picks is automatically double-flexed. This means you can miss up to two picks and still receive a payout. Refer to the table below for a detailed breakdown of the Pick8 flexed entry payout structure.

No. of Picks0 Wrong1 Wrong2 WrongScorchers
33X1x075X
46X1.5X0100X
510X2.5X0125X
625X2.6X0.25X175X
740X2.75X0.5X250X
880X3X1X325X

Underdog Fantasy Scorchers

You’ll notice that the far-right column has “Scorchers” multipliers. Scorchers are a feature of Underdog pick’em entries that boost the max multiplier payout you can receive. They are marked with a little chili pepper icon next to the projection so you can tell which picks are Scorchers:

In order to get your multiplier boost with the Scorcher, that pick must be correct, even in a Flex entry. Now, you can miss other picks in the Flex entry and hit the Scorcher boost, but the Scorcher itself must be correct. Any voided or tied Scorcher will go down as a loser and you will not get the boosted payout.

The Scorcher column for Standard and Flex entries above indicate the max payout possible at each number of picks with Scorchers — actual payout multipliers will vary based on the number of Scorchers in your entry.
