Hall of Fame Game DFS: Best Texans-Bears NFL DFS Picks
No starters are playing tonight, so here are some key players you should consider rostering.
Quarterbacks
Chicago Bears
Caleb Williams is not playing tonight. Tyson Bagent is expected to start for the Bears and will likely see a bit more than a third of the playing time, with Austin Reed and Brett Rypien also slated for work afterward. Bagent might have some rushing upside, as he accumulated 109 yards and two touchdowns last season.
Houston Texans
C.J. Stroud is also not playing tonight. Davis Mills has the most upside among the Texans quarterbacks, as he is likely to play the entire first half. Though Mills will likely have high ownership, the prop market below suggests that there isn’t much difference in projection between all the quarterbacks. Case Keenum and Tim Boyle are the second and third options, respectively. It seems unlikely that the Texans will need to evaluate the 36-year-old Keenum much, so Boyle could also be a solid option.
D/ST
Defenses and special teams are always strong plays in these games because they stay on the field the entire time. With a game total of 30.5 tonight, there’s a good chance both teams’ D/ST units will end up in the optimal lineup. However, people are already aware of the strategy of playing D/ST in these games.
Kickers
Cairo Santos and Ka’imi Fairbairn are both great options, as each team only has one kicker on the roster.
Wide Receivers
Chicago Bears
Up to nine receivers could suit up for the Bears, making this a murky, boom-or-bust situation. Here are the top options:
- Velus Jones Jr.
- Collin Johnson
- Tyler Scott
- Freddie Swain
- Peter Leblanc
- Dante Pettis
Houston Texans
The Texans should have between six and eight receivers active, making their situation a bit safer than the Bears’. John Metchie and Xavier Hutchinson are likely to play with Mills, making stacking easier. Here are the top options:
- John Metchie
- Xavier Hutchinson
- Ben Skowronek
- Steven Sims
- Johnny Johnson III
- Quintez Cephus
- Jadon Janke

Running Backs
Chicago Bears
The big news here is that D’Andre Swift is out, and with Travis Homer and Ian Wheeler injured and likely to sit, the Bears only have three running backs available tonight. Khalil Herbert may see some action, but Demetric Felton and Roschon Johnson are expected to get the longest looks. Felton has the highest total yards prop by far and is the best play of the group.
Houston Texans
Joe Mixon will not suit up. There should be a good running back battle between Dameon Pierce and Jawhar Jordan, both expected to get significant playing time. Jordan, a fifth-round pick in the 2024 draft, is expected to see a lot of action. J.J. Taylor has PPR upside and should play a solid role. British Brooks is a flier who might go under the radar but could see a decent amount of playing time. The situation here is much murkier.
Tight Ends
Chicago Bears
The Bears have a lot of options at tight end, making it tough to pinpoint a standout. Stephen Carlson, Tommy Sweeney and Brenden Bates are all in the mix.
Houston Texans
The Texans are banged up at tight end and might only have two on the active roster tonight. Keep an eye on whether Brevin Jordan suits up. If he doesn’t, Teagan Quitoriano and Cade Stover could see a lot of playing time, making them potential under-the-radar DFS options tonight.
Prop Market
Total receiving yards for both teams are set around 175.5, and rushing yards are at 100.5. The odds for either team having more than two passing touchdowns are +230 for the Texans and +300 for the Bears. These numbers strongly suggest that kickers and D/ST are the top options tonight.
Quarterback Passing Yard Props:
- Davis Mills: 97.5 passing yards
- Case Keenum: 70.5 passing yards
- Tyson Bagent: 72.5 passing yards
- Tim Boyle: 66.5 passing yards
- Brett Rypien: 60.4 passing yards
- Austin Reed: 64.5 passing yards
Rushing and Receiving Total Yard Props:
- Demetric Felton: 54.5 yards
- Jawhar Jordan: 34.5 yards
- Dameon Pierce: 34.5 yards
- Xavier Hutchinson: 26.5 yards
- J.J. Taylor: 26.5 yards
- Freddie Swain: 22.5 yards
- Collin Johnson: 21.5 yards

Tips
D/ST and kickers are projected to be the best plays but will also be the highest owned. Look for ways to differentiate your roster if you plan to load up on them.
