The Paris Olympics have arrived, and we’ve got some exciting golf action beginning in the wee hours of Thursday morning to discuss. I’ll identify my top golf DFS picks for the Paris Olympics below, including one expensive golfer (gold), one mid-range golfer (silver) and one cheap golfer (bronze). Make sure to check out our PGA DFS projections and PGA DFS ownership projections while you’re here!
Golf DFS Picks: Top Values for the Paris Olympics (2024)
Golf DFS Picks: Top Values for the Paris Olympics (2024)
Gold – Jon Rahm
Jon Rahm ($10,700 at DraftKings) is projected for 16.3% ownership, but I anticipate having him in 30% of my lineups.
I have a healthy amount of Scottie Scheffler ($12,500) and Xander Schauffele ($11,600) in my lineups as they’ve shown unbelievable form throughout all of 2024. It’s very hard to eject on either at their current mid-teens ownership.
Rahm, however, I am nearly double the field on coming off his T7 at the Open Championship and win at LIV Golf United Kingdom (whatever that is).
Rahm has battled a lot of distractions this season — switching golf tours, his third kid on the way, foot issues that kept him out of the US Open — but all seems to be clearing up at a good time for the Spaniard to contend at a track he has familiarity with going back to the 2018 Ryder Cup.
And if I had to come up with the closest PGA Tour comparison course, I’d certainly choose TPC Scottsdale where the former Arizona State Sun Devil competed routinely back in his PGA Tour days. So with this recent improved form, look for improved results from Rahm in Paris.
OTHER TARGETS: Scottie Scheffler ($12,500), Xander Schauffele ($11,600)
Silver – Corey Conners
I’m overweight to the field on Corey Conners ($8,900). He projects for 18.5% but is in 32% of my lineups.
If you were to create a golf course from scratch for mid-range target Corey Conners to compete at, I don’t think it would look too dissimilar from Le Golf National. The Canadian is fourth in my model in SG: Approach over his past 24 and 50 rounds played, respectively.
Considering his putter is starting to cooperate, with three performances in which he gained three or more strokes on the greens in his past six events — and with his short game gaining him at least 1 shot in five straight events — this is the sort of all-around golf game we’ve been waiting to see out of Conners all year long.
A T25 at the Open Championship has his ownership somewhat in check, so happy to be rolling him out as my highest-owned golfer this week.
OTHER TARGETS: Alex Noren ($9,000), Sepp Straka ($8,500)
Bronze – Mito Pereira
Rahm and Conners aren’t crazy contrarian by any means, so let’s get way off the board here to finish. Mito Pereira ($6,800) is most known for his meltdown at the 2022 PGA Championship at Southern Hills at which he squandered a one-shot lead on 18 to miss the playoff by one. Perhaps it’s scar tissue from that event that’s led to his demise as a member of the LIV Tour, where he has posted all of one top 30 in 2024 — a difficult feat considering the limited fields.
However, this shapes up to be Pereira’s biggest event of the season bar none, and the talent was there on the PGA Tour once upon a time. In fact, whenever the putter was remotely competent, he found himself in the hunt posting outrageous strokes-gained: approach totals such as +4.9 at the 2023 PGA Championship, +6.1 at the aforementioned 2022 PGA Championship and +9.1 at the Shriners in 2022.
These aren’t strokes-gained totals you see from sub-$7,000 golfers in any field, let alone a limited Olympic one. In other words, I’ll take the bait.
OTHER TARGETS: Erik Van Rooyen ($7,000), Shubhankar Sharma ($6,500)
