5 – Kelly Oubre Jr.
Position: SG | Salary: $5,700
Projections: 15.3 Points, 6.6 Rebounds, 2.0 Assists, 2.1 Stocks
With no Joel Embiid, Kyle Lowry, K.J. Martin, Jared McCain or Andre Drummond on the court, Oubre is primed for a significant role. He’s playing heavy minutes — 36 to 38 per game — and faces a Pelicans team that’s without like Herbert Jones, Brandon Ingram and Trey Murphy. The lack of perimeter defense bodes well for Oubre, who can capitalize on this matchup. While Tyrese Maxey and Paul George will dominate usage, Oubre’s price, position eligibility and role make him an excellent play on this slate.
4 – Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Position: PG | Salary: $10,400
Projections: 31.9 Points, 5.2 Rebounds, 6.1 Assists, 2.8 Stocks
This guy is phenomenal, and today’s matchup against the New York Knicks is a perfect stage for him. The Thunder are shorthanded with just nine active players (and Alex Ducas as a potential 10th who likely won’t see much time). Gilgeous-Alexander should log at least 36 minutes in what promises to be a competitive game at Madison Square Garden. His ability to deliver massive fantasy points makes him a priority pay-up option, and his MVP-level play this season cements his spot in my top 5.
3 – Dennis Schroder
Position: PG/SG | Salary: $5,400
Projections: 17.7 Points, 2.9 Rebounds, 6.1 Assists, 1.0 Stocks
The Warriors are incredibly thin tonight, as we are assuming they will be without Stephen Curry, Andrew Wiggins and potentially Draymond Green. This uncertainty makes Schroder one of the best plays on the slate as of now. With a favorable matchup against the Pacers and plenty of minutes available, Schroder offers excellent value. Keep an eye on the news closer to lock, as the Warriors’ situation could evolve throughout the day.
2 – Nikola Jokic
Position: C | Salary: $12,300
Projections: 30.5 Points, 11.8 Rebounds, 8.7 Assists, 2.2 Stocks
The Nuggets are at home against a Brooklyn Nets team that has just 10 active players, none of whom can realistically contain Jokic. He could easily deliver a 70-point fantasy performance tonight, and with the Nets lacking size and defensive presence, this matchup feels like a scrimmage for him. Whether he’s scoring at will or dishing out dimes, Jokic is the offensive focal point for Denver. If you can fit him into your lineup, you absolutely should.
1 – Buddy Hield
Position: SG | Salary: $4,200
Projections: 17.8 Points, 3.9 Rebounds, 2.0 Assists, 1.3 Stocks
This assumes Curry is out, which would solidify Hield as the slate’s best value play. If Curry plays, Hield remains a strong option but may not hold the top spot. Either way, his price, position eligibility and projected role make him an easy choice for lineups today.
