5 – Cade Cunningham
Position: PG | Salary: $9,800
Projections: 25.2 Points, 6.6 Rebounds, 9.8 Assists, 1.6 Stocks
Cunningham is already pulling a lot of ownership tonight, but he’s facing the Utah Jazz, which makes him look even better. With no Jaden Ivey in this one, Cunningham should get even more opportunities. He’s the best point guard option on the slate today, and while Kyrie Irving is a bit cheaper, Cunningham is hitting the stat categories harder, and his price is reasonable. It is no surprise he’s one of the most heavily owned guys, especially with such a great matchup against Utah.
4 – Trae Young
Position: PG | Salary: $9,400
Projections: 23.7 Points, 3.6 Rebounds, 10.9 Assists, 1.5 Stocks
Young is projecting at 36 minutes and facing the San Antonio Spurs. He’s slightly cheaper than Cunningham, and though he won’t get to the same rebound numbers, Young a much better playmaker. What makes him stand out is his ownership — he’s under 10% owned right now. If you’re building a chalky lineup and want a contrarian pivot, Young is a fantastic option. If you’ve already gone contrarian elsewhere, then Cunningham makes more sense, but the ownership gap between these two is way too big for what I’m seeing.
3 – Quentin Grimes
Position: SG/SF | Salary: $3,900
Projections: 12.7 Points, 4.0 Rebounds, 1.7 Assists, 1.2 Stocks
My expectation is that Grimes will start in place of Luka Doncic today. If Irving sits, this could look a little different, but for now, Grimes is a great value play. He’s not the best per-minute guy, but with so many minutes and opportunities to go around without Doncic, he’s going to play a big role. Whether he starts or not, Grimes is a great value option just because of what Dallas is missing.
2 –Â Jayson Tatum
Position: SF/PF | Salary: $10,100
Projections: 28.1 Points, 9.0 Rebounds, 5.5 Assists, 1.7 Stocks
This Bulls-Celtics game has the highest total of the day, and it’s a pace-up spot for Boston. If Kristaps Porzingis is ruled out (he’s questionable), that only boosts Tatum’s value. He’s not getting nearly as much ownership as Cunningham, which makes me want to pay up for him. He’s an elite play in this spot, especially with the Bulls not being able to slow him down.
1 – Clint Capela
Position: C | Salary: $5,300
Projections: 12.4 Points, 11.4 Rebounds, 1.6 Assists, 2.2 Stocks
With Onyeka Okongwu out, Capela is going to see around 29 minutes tonight. He’s going to play a bigger role, and I expect his salary to rise above $6,000 once Okongwu returns, so rostering him now at this price gives you a significant edge. Capela’s a great value at this salary, and I’m expecting him to be a key contributor tonight.
