5 – James Harden
Position: PG | Salary: $9,700
Projections: 24.8 Points, 5.8 Rebounds, 8.5 Assists, 1.9 Stocks
Harden is running the show for the Clippers, and while this is a tough matchup against Denver, it’s hard to ignore his potential. Norman Powell is back, which honestly might help Harden more than it hurts him, giving him another outlet when things get tight. And if Jamal Murray sits on the Denver side, we could be in for a Harden vs. Russell Westbrook matchup — fun for fans and a boost for Harden’s DFS outlook. At this price, he’s worth a look, even with the challenges of playing in Denver’s elevation.
4 – Ja Morant
Position: PG | Salary: $8,700
Projections: 23.8 Points, 4.9 Rebounds, 8.3 Assists, 1.6 Stocks
The main knock on Morant is Memphis’ tendency to limit minutes; 36-minute ceilings are unlikely here. I’ve projected him for 31 minutes, and even with that, he’s popping into my top 5 thanks to the matchup. Memphis is in a great spot tonight against the Nets, and Morant might go overlooked compared to other guards.
3 – Justin Champagnie
Position: SF/PF | Salary: $4,500
Projections: 11.9 Points, 6.3 Rebounds, 1.9 Assists, 2.0 Stocks
The matchup against Cleveland is brutal, but Champagnie is playing around 30 minutes a night. Whether it’s during the regular game or garbage time in what’s likely to be a blowout, Champagnie has value. The multi-position eligibility helps a ton, and he’s already pulling significant ownership — deservedly so. Is he exciting to roster? Not really, but value is value, and tonight he’s one of the best cheap plays on the board.
2 – Nikola Jokic
Position: C | Salary: $12,500
Projections: 28.9 Points, 12.9 Rebounds, 10.1 Assists, 2.4 Stocks
Jokic is carrying Denver on his back, and if Murray ends up sitting, Jokic’s role becomes even larger. Even with Murray in, there’s plenty of value on this slate to make Jokic a priority spend. I have him projected for 68 fantasy points with a target score of 70, and he hits that target nearly 40% of the time. No one on this slate has a higher ceiling than Jokic, but he just misses out on the top spot today.
1 – Vasilije Micic
Position: PG | Salary: $5,100
Projections: 14.8 Points, 3.2 Rebounds, 6.9 Assists, 1.1 Stocks
With LaMelo Ball out, Charlotte remains shorthanded. Even if Miles Bridges and Tidjane Salaun return, Micic’s role is secure. The matchup against the Bulls is excellent, with a high total and fast pace, and Chicago’s defense is far from intimidating. Yes, Micic burned us all as heavy chalk in a previous slate, but tonight he’s pulling ownership again, and it’s justified. The price tag, minutes and matchup make him my top play on DraftKings tonight.
