5 – Jakob Poeltl
Position: C | Salary: $5,800
Projections: 15.1 Points, 9.4 Rebounds, 3.1 Assists, 2.4 Stocks
Poeltl is a solid value option, but there’s some uncertainty here. The Raptors are on a back-to-back, and we don’t have their injury report yet. If Poeltl is available, he’s underpriced in a fantastic matchup against the Washington Wizards. I have him projected for 27 minutes, putting up 35.5 fantasy points. His target score is 39, making him a strong play. The Raptors frontcourt is crowded with Orlando Robinson, Colin Castleton and Jonathan Mogbo, but if Poeltl gets the start, he’s a top-tier value at his price.
4 – Jose Alvarado
Position: PG | Salary: $4,900
Projections: 12.8 Points, 3.1 Rebounds, 6.6 Assists, 1.9 Stocks
The Pelicans are dealing with a ton of injuries, and we don’t know yet who’s playing. C.J. McCollum is likely out, Bruce Brown is questionable and Zion Williamson’s status is unclear. Assuming Alvarado plays, he should see significant minutes against the 76ers. I have him in for 28 minutes and a total of fantasy points. He’s looking to hit 35 points to be a strong play. Even with lineup uncertainty, Alvarado should remain a key value option.
3 – Aaron Gordon
Position: PF | Salary: $6,500
Projections: 20.4 Points, 6.4 Rebounds, 5.0 Assists, 0.9 Stocks
The Nuggets are also on a back-to-back, adding another layer of uncertainty. Nikola Jokic has missed time, and we don’t know the status of Jamal Murray. If Gordon is in and Jokic is out, he becomes a priority play. He has a 43-point target score, and he lands in the optimal lineup 57% of the time. The matchup against the Bulls is excellent — their defense is weak, and the game will be played at Denver’s high altitude, which benefits the Nuggets.
2 – Zion Williamson
Position: SF/PF | Salary: $9,200
Projections: 29.1 Points, 6.8 Rebounds, 5.7 Assists, 1.8 Stocks
Williamson is the biggest wild card of the slate. If he plays, he’s a fantastic option at an elite position. I have him projected for 27 minutes, but he could push closer to 30. Even in limited time, he projects for 49 fantasy points. His target score is 56, and he’s in the optimal lineup 59% of the time. If McCollum is out, Williamson’s usage will skyrocket, making him an even better option.
Update: Zion Williamson ruled out.
1 – Deandre Jordan
Position: C | Salary: $3,000
Projections: 9.1 Points, 10.5 Rebounds, 2.1 Assists, 1.6 Stocks
Now for the biggest mystery of the day. Jordan started yesterday and played 38 minutes. Before that, he wasn’t even in the rotation. Was that a matchup decision against Houston’s Alperen Sengun, or will they do the same thing against Nikola Vucevic and the Bulls? We don’t know. If Jordan starts again, he’s the best play on the slate at the flat $3,000 salary. I have him projected for 26 minutes and 28 fantasy points. His target score is 25, making him an elite value. However, if he’s not named the starter, I would not roster him since he could get zero minutes. Denver’s lineup news will be crucial, especially since this is the last game of the night. Be ready to late swap if necessary.
