5 – Lauri Markkanen
Position: SF | Salary: $6,900
Projections: 22.6 Points, 6.2 Rebounds, 1.3 Assists, 1.3 Stocks
The Utah Jazz are taking on the Portland Trail Blazers, and Markkanen’s salary makes him an interesting option today. The matchup against Portland is favorable, and with Jordan Clarkson and John Collins already out, there’s a chance for increased volume. While Markkanen is questionable today, if he plays, he’ll be getting 30-plus minutes per game, which makes him a solid pick for your lineups. The only real question here is whether or not he’ll suit up.
4 – Quentin Grimes
Position: SG | Salary: $5,600
Projections: 15.9 Points, 5.3 Rebounds, 3.8 Assists, 1.4 Stocks
If Joel Embiid sits out today — something I’m already assuming will happen — Grimes will see an even larger role, especially with Tyrese Maxey’s status still up in the air. Grimes has been playing around 34 minutes per game and has been an important contributor in a fast-paced, defensively weak environment. If Maxey doesn’t play, this could elevate Grimes’ usage even more, making him an even stronger play. He’s a solid option today, especially for his price.
3 – Keyonte George
Position: PG | Salary: $6,500
Projections: 19.7 Points, 3.6 Rebounds, 6.0 Assists, 0.9 Stocks
George is another solid Utah play at a reasonable salary. Portland has been struggling, and with a potential shorthanded Jazz lineup (no Clarkson, no Collins and possibly no Markkanen), George could see even more usage. He’s already averaged a fantasy point per minute, and at over 30 minutes per game, he could thrive in this matchup. The best part is the game is later in the day, making him a great option for late swap if you need to adjust your lineup.
2 – Nikola Jokic
Position: C | Salary: $12,000
Projections: 29.8 Points, 12.7 Rebounds, 10.3 Assists, 2.4 Stocks
It’s hard to argue against the reigning MVP. Jokic comes in at $12,000, and in a matchup against the Pacers, he’s expected to dominate. The Pacers are one of the worst rebounding teams in the league, and Jokic is likely to get a triple-double in this game. Even if he only hits his projections, he’ll be in a winning lineup. The matchup is fantastic, and with his ability to do everything on the court, Jokic is a must-have for your pay-up option today.
1 – Kelly Oubre Jr.
Position: SG/SF | Salary: $5,500
Projections: 17.4 Points, 7.3 Rebounds, 2.0 Assists, 2.3 Stocks
With a fantastic matchup against the Bulls, Oubre is the best play today. He’s playing 38 minutes per game, and without Maxey, he should get even more usage. He’s versatile, eligible at shooting guard and small forward, and offers the best positional flexibility for your lineup. Oubre is expected to be one of the highest-owned players, but for good reason — his price and opportunity make him a no-brainer today.
