5 – Devin Vassell
Position: SG/SF | Salary: $6,800
Projections: 21.0 Points, 4.7 Rebounds, 3.6 Assists, 1.9 Stocks
Vassell gets a prime spot tonight against a skeleton crew version of the 76ers. This Philadelphia squad is missing just about everyone except Quentin Grimes, and that opens up a fantastic opportunity for Vassell. Shooting guard and small forward eligibility at $6,800 makes him an incredibly flexible option. He’s been playing 33 to 34 minutes per game, projecting for 37 fantasy points with a target of 44, and he’s in a great price range with a strong role and the perfect matchup. There are a lot of Spurs to get to tonight, but Vassell stands out as a premier option.
4 – Chris Paul
Position: PG | Salary: $4,600
Projections: 8.9 Points, 3.5 Rebounds, 7.8 Assists, 1.2 Stocks
Minutes have been a concern for Paul lately, but he did play 31 minutes in his last game. I’m only projecting him for 24 tonight, which means there’s a ton of upside if he creeps higher. Even in limited minutes, he produces. He’s projected for 27.5 fantasy points with a goal of 33, and the upside is evident. Given his age and San Antonio’s approach to the season, there’s always a bit of risk, but even at 24 minutes, Paul is a great GPP option with room for more.
3 – Franz Wagner
Position: SG/SF | Salary: $8,600
Projections: 26.4 Points, 6.7 Rebounds, 4.6 Assists, 1.9 Stocks
It’s Wagner time, and I love this spot. He is much cheaper than Paolo Banchero, and his positional flexibility makes him incredibly valuable. Oh yeah, he gets to face the Wizards — the worst of the worst in every aspect. They’re shorthanded, they play fast and they can’t defend. It’s a dream matchup in every way. If you’re looking for a high-upside play with elite flexibility, Wagner is your guy.
2 – Jeremy Sochan
Position: PF/C | Salary: $5,100
Projections: 14.1 Points, 8.2 Rebounds, 3.2 Assists, 1.5 Stocks
I love the Spurs tonight, and Sochan is a big reason why. He started at center last time out in place of Bismack Biyombo, but on DraftKings he’s listed as a power forward and center. He’s projected for 32 fantasy points with a target of 36, putting him in optimal builds 46% of the time. If he stays in the starting lineup at center, his rebounding rates will stay up, and he’ll remain one of the best value plays on the slate. The matchup against the depleted 76ers frontline only makes things better.
1 – Jusuf Nurkic
Position: C | Salary: $3,700
Projections: 10.5 Points, 7.7 Rebounds, 3.7 Assists, 1.7 Stocks
Now, take this No. 1 spot with a grain of salt because things are fluid. The Hornets are on a back-to-back, and we don’t have clarity on their injury report. But if Mark Williams sits, then this game becomes a prime spot for Nurkic. I have him projected for 22 minutes, but even in that limited time, he looks fantastic at just $3,700. He’s averaging 1.3 fantasy points per minute, meaning a 10-point, eight-rebound, four-assist, and two-stock performance is well within reach. He’s projected for 29 fantasy points, and the goal is just 29. If he plays 20 minutes, he’s still a top-5 guy. If he starts, he becomes the best value play on the slate, hands down. Keep an eye on the news because if things shake out the right way, Nurkic will be a must-play.
