5 – Tobias Harris
Position: PF | Salary: $5,700
Projections: 15.8 Points, 6.6 Rebounds, 2.2 Assists, 1.8 Stocks
Harris comes in at No. 5 thanks to an elite matchup against the Washington Wizards, putting him at 31 fantasy points overall. He’s in the optimal lineup 34% of the time. He’s been playing bigger minutes lately, logging 34-plus in his last two games after a brief absence. This matchup against the Wizards is exactly what you want, whether it’s a four-game slate or a 10-game slate. Playing Washington is always beneficial, and that’s why Harris lands in the top 5.
4 – James Harden
Position: PG | Salary: $9,900
Projections: 24.9 Points, 6.4 Rebounds, 9.3 Assists, 2.4 Stocks
Harden takes on a struggling Pelicans squad. He’s point guard-only, projected for 51.5 fantasy points. We’re hoping for 60, and he’s in the optimal lineup 36% of the time. Harden has been logging monster minutes, consistently playing 38 to 39 per game. Kawhi Leonard, Ivica Zubac and the rest of the Clippers core are also playing big minutes, and on a four-game slate, that’s crucial. Harden’s usage, per-minute production and matchup make him an easy pick today.
3 – Ivica Zubac
Position: C | Salary: $8,000
Projections: 18.5 Points, 13.7 Rebounds, 2.5 Assists, 2.4 Stocks
Sticking with the Clippers, Zubac has been ramping up his playing time as the Clippers prep for the postseason. He’s center-only and projected for 44 fantasy points. He’s in the optimal lineup 41% of the time.
The Pelicans are an absolute mess at center, with Kelly Olynyk out and a rotation of Karlo Matkovic and Yves Missi filling in. Zion Williamson is playing the three, and New Orleans just doesn’t have an answer inside. Zubac is one of the most underappreciated centers in the NBA, and he’s in a fantastic spot tonight.
2 – Jalen Duren
Position: C | Salary: $6,600
Projections: 13.6 Points, 12.0 Rebounds, 3.5 Assists, 2.1 Stocks
Duren also benefits from an elite matchup against the Wizards. He’s center-only and projected for 37.5 fantasy points. His goal is 43 points, and he’s in the optimal lineup 43% of the time. Duren’s biggest challenge is avoiding foul trouble, but against Washington, he should have plenty of room to work. The Pistons are actually massive favorites in this game, and Duren is a key reason why. This is arguably his best matchup of the season, making him an easy pick today.
1 – Kawhi Leonard
Position: SF/PF | Salary: $8,100
Projections: 26.4 Points, 6.4 Rebounds, 3.6 Assists, 2.3 Stocks
Honestly, I didn’t expect to have Leonard at the top at any point this season. But his minutes are trending up, and I have him in for 35.5 tonight. He’s played as many as 38 recently, and he’s looking healthier. While he might not be peak-Leonard just yet, he’s getting there, and on this slate his price, position, and minutes are all too good to ignore. That’s why Leonard is today’s No. 1 ConTENder.
