NBA DFS Picks & Building Blocks Today: Monday, April 1

NBA DFS Picks: Building Blocks

C.J. McCollum: Pelicans vs. Suns

Stokastic’s Fantasy Point Projections
DraftKings: 41.23 | FanDuel: 39.33
Stokastic’s Rostership Projections

DFS Salary
DraftKings: $7,700 | FanDuel: $8,400

Brandon Ingram remains out, which leaves a lot of heavy lifting to C.J. McCollum and Zion Williamson. New Orleans has the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference, though Phoenix and Sacramento are two games back.

The Pelicans are favored by a bucket at home, even without Ingram. That should in turn lead to a closely contested game with plenty of minutes going to the key members of both rotations.

This season when Ingram is on the court, McCollum averages right around a fantasy point per minute, while Williamson is at 1.18. When Ingram is off the court, McCollum surges to 1.21 fantasy points per minute and Zion elevates to 1.36. Over the last 10 games, the Suns have ceded 116.1 points per 100 possessions, which is among the bottom third of the league.

Trey Murphy III is a nice complementary piece across the DFS sites, while Larry Nance Jr. is a decent tournament differentiator as it seems he has moved slightly ahead of Jonas Valanciunas for minutes and comes with a discount.

Devin Booker and Kevin Durant are live in tournaments, with each likely to be on only one in 10 rosters on both DraftKings and FanDuel by the time the dust settles.

Cam Thomas: Nets at Packers

Stokastic’s Fantasy Point Projections
DraftKings: 38.16 | FanDuel: 36.71
Stokastic’s Rostership Projections
DraftKings: 31.6% | FanDuel: 15.9%
DFS Salary
DraftKings: $7,100 | FanDuel: $8,000

Cam Thomas has never met a shot he didn’t like, and during this time of year that is perfect as we are searching for motivations in an effort to find the safest DFS plays, who also have upside.

This is the third game in four nights for the Nets, but since they do not expend any energy on defense, keep rolling with their primary players.

Thomas has three consecutive games of 40-plus fantasy points while averaging 32 actual points per appearance in this stretch. Last night Brooklyn was embarrassed at home by the visiting Los Angeles Lakers, who kept the Nets off the scoreboard for just over six minutes to start the game, leading 17-0 as Brooklyn missed the first 11 field goal attempts. L.A. never relinquished the lead, winning 116-104.

Nic Claxton is an interesting option at the center position, though there are a lot of favorable fantasy point-per-dollar plays in that bucket tonight. Trendon Watford has power forward eligibility, making him the current punt du jour on DraftKings ($3,600).

From the Pacers, Tyrese Haliburton, Pascal Siakam and Myles Turner are the trio to target. Indiana has a slim half-game lead over the Heat and just a two-game edge on the 76ers as they look to stay out of the Play-In Tournament.

Today’s Top Sports Betting Pick

Jayson Tatum is someone to target in the with sports wagering market with the under on his 2.5 made 3-pointers prop.

Currently this wager is available at +130 on bet365, which is a great value when comparing it to the +100 to +105 on most other books.

By using OddsShopper to do the heavy lifting when researching favorable bets, we can quickly spot inefficient lines like this one, and having accounts at multiple sportsbooks allows us to pivot to the best number quickly.

Per the true odds of +117 (how OddsShopper measures the potential expected ROI of a given wager), this opportunity has a nice 6.1% positive expected ROI as a function of the inefficient line.

NBA Bet Pro currently has Tatum projected for 36.1 minutes and 3.02 made 3-pointers. This projection is above tonight’s targeted threshold but still does not account for variable outcomes. The 46% win rate gives us a good indication that, on a long time horizon, this is exactly the type of wager we are looking for — but only at +116 odds or better.

Boston is favored by 16 points tonight in Charlotte, and if the Celtics do not end up resting anyone, it is hard to see Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday and the other starters playing more than 30 minutes. Yes, Tatum could easily bury our hopes and dreams of the under in the first quarter, but if things play out like the spread indicates and only one or two key contributors sit, Tatum may not get to the trio of troikas needed to reach the over on this wager. For the season, he is averaging 3.1 makes on 8.3 attempts from behind the arc for a 37.9% conversion rate.

In his last four games, he has two, two, two and three made triples while averaging 39.4 minutes. Take the plus money on the under tonight.
