With DraftKings having two roster spots for pitchers, it creates an opportunity to take a stand in a limited player pool. To play it safe, the majority of users like to roster the chalkiest pitchers in hopes of their bats being the main focal point of their lineup. While in theory it is a great strategy, it limits a lineup’s ability to stand out from the rest and ultimately land in the top 5 of a large-field GPP. That’s why we need MLB DFS pivots.
The goal in this breakdown is to find which pitchers can give lineups the opportunity to return massive ROI while being undrowned across the field. Best MLB DFS Pivots Today: George Kirby ($9,100)
Kirby is coming off a season-high 42-point performance against the Diamondbacks where he pitched seven shutout innings while striking out 12. DraftKings took notice of this and decided to drop his price tag to a season-low $7,800, the only reasonable thing to do after a player has a ceiling performance.
Luckily, this slate is filled with popular $8,000-plus arms, leaving Kirby for only 9% projected ownership. Kirby is taking on an incredibly scary Astros lineup that, at times, has not been there offensively. The inspiring part is that Kirby has an impressive 28.4% strikeout percentage and only a 3% walk percentage, plus the Astros are projected for 4.3 runs, fourth lowest on the slate. You don’t know what you are going to get when you roster the Astros in 2024, which is why we are going to capitalize off of that angle with a priced-down pitcher.
